Where do I begin.....LaPrade did surgery on me 5 years ago. Recently had an appointment due to my MRI. Had to laugh when I saw his evaluation. He stated that he checked all of these different things, and he didn't do anything in the examining room except have me walk back and forth. Stated I didn't have any lower extremity weakness. I have an EMG report that says differently. He lied on every statement on his report. He may be a good surgeon when it's an emergency, but don't trust him to give you good advice otherwise. WHAT A JERK HE IS!!!!!!!

Dr laprade is a skilled surgeon. I had previous back surgery and suffered from scar tissue and pain for years done by another surgeon. was told " you dont have surgery to alleviate pain you do it to walk again and stop nerve damage". well eventually 13 years later it re-ruptured and I seen dr laprade who quickly got me into surgery and even repaired my spinal cord. It has been 6 years I have not had a single pain in my back no scar tissue pain, no its going to rain pain, nothing! I accepted the back pain as the normal after the other surgeon said thats the way it had to be. DrHe not very talkative which could be perceived as rude... but what surgeon is? He is a great surgeon I have recommended so many to him over the years and all have been happy with outcome. In fact I just was talking about what a great job he did and this inspired me to write this review so many happy and pain free years later.

BEWARE.....This man should NOT be in practice!!! I was admitted to JCL NM with servere cervical pain... had CT scan and MRI.... the radiologist and the two hospitalists found some pretty serious diseases on my MRI and called in Mr La Prade... after walking in my room stating the above comment he proceeded to refute the findings on the MRI with the radiologist stating theren was no flattening, adema or compression of my spinal cord..stated "may try some more PTand there was NOTHING wrong with me"!!!.I hv since had another MRI which in fact confirms the above and many more disturbing findings QUACK

this doctor has a very bad temper behind closed doors.

I am six months post surgery and although I may require add'l surgery in the near future I am happy with the doctor. Dr. Laprade is direct but empathetic.He is efficient and (I am convinced ) skilled as a surgeon. I was very satified with the explanation of my problem - ruptured disc at L5-S1 and treatment for same - laminectomy with microdiscectomy.He took the time to meet with my wife and explain the surgery, visited with us after the operation and was always cordial and took the time to explain things.His staff is excellent , friendly and helpful and the office is easy to access and I have never had to wait long to see him,If I had any constructive criticism it would be that because he is direct he may seem "short" to some people. Taking a little additional time with the patient - even if it's not apparent that they need it - never hurts!!Otherwise, very happy wot him and very happy woth the result of my surgery ( fingers crossed)

after 6mos of broken neck, he had my issue figured out and was ready to treat. first time in months i trusted the dr(others were not worried enough to check-assumed it was something minor and would fix itself, or too lackadaisical on whether Trtmt was too intense not necessary...)LaPrade was decisive, direct and had me confident in his & Frost's ability and experience; though immediately imperative & not something anyone wishes to hear they need, surgery was relatively simple and worth it! plus my friend the plastic surgeon said his suture was gorgeous and it healed quite well i must say. Recommend for sure...

Went to ER @ JCL NM on Hatcher & 3rd Sts. Original diagnosis from ER doctor: Stroke -- I was paralyzed on left side. Moments later after CT scan: Massive sub-dural hematoma on right side of my head. Dr LaPrade was the neurosurgeon on call that day. He came in, explained its seriousness and said that he had one patient worse off than me, so my surgery would be second. Sometime right after the first surgery, I was not waking up. The drainage tubes had filled with bright red arterial blood and my pupils were fixed / dilated. Back for another round of surgery. Dr LaPrade performed the second surgery (probably in record time!) and I've since recovered quickly, but some issues still remain. I see Dr LaPrade every few weeks and am grateful he was the surgeon on duty that day.

My neurologist referred me. After a 2.5 week wait, the surgeon supposedly going over the records my neurologist sent over, his office calls to make an appointment, another 2.5 week wait. I arrive early, get to a room on time, but wait over 40 mins for his PA to come in a tell me to see the previous surgeon I saw over 4 yrs ago, who I didn't want to see again! Why waste my time? It was over an 1.25 hr drive to see him, and the wait time? Find someone else! He doesn't care! It's all about the money! Another month to see someone else.

I went to JC Lincoln DV who didnt even want to give me an MRI. My husband had to threaten the ER doc to get an MRI. That doctor apologized to my husband & told him MRI was not good & they were transporting me to JC Lincoln on Hatcher. He told me he had already spoke to a Neuro Surgeon who whould meet me there. Once abulance got me to Hatcher, I was rushed for immediate xray & just before going into xray, Dr. LaPrade,who was sitting there waiting on my arrival, introducted himself & explained what was wrong with me & what he thought he could do to help surgically. I begged him to do anything to releive my pain. After speaking with me at xray, he went upstairs & found my husband to explain to him. After surgery, he told my husband i would be there for 5 days in hospital but no hurry he would make sure I felt ready before releasing me, my call. WOW! How nice, my call. Dont hear that much anymore. He visited daily in the morning, & then his associate visited daily in the evening. They… stayed until my questions were answered & they made sure I was feeling okay. They didn't make me feel their time was to valuable for me. I asked Dr LaPrade about my cervical spine I have been going to pain docs for years for as another Neuro surgeon refused to touch it & that nothing could be done but keeping me comfortable. Dr LaPrade told me to bring my MRI of cervical spine & he would be willing to do surgery if possible. Great Doctor, Gread Personable doc which I havent had in a long time and I see alot of them. highly recommended.

Paul LaPrade is an exception surgeon. I think he is the best in his field.
