Dr. Paul Nellis Manson, MD

If I could give less than one star I would. I was diagnosed with a rare tumor syndrome, which was confirmed by four other doctors, including a specialist I was referred to in Arizona. There are thousands of them in the adipose layer the size of BBs and marbles. They are wrapped in connective tissue and extremely painful. I was referred to Dr Manson by Hershey Medical Center. They had little experience with my condition and were hopeful I'd get the treatment needed there. I saw Dr Manson at least a half dozen times. He sent me to, I believe, five different specialists between Baltimore and Bethesda to rule out other issues. I live in Pennsylvania. It cost me over $700 in co-pays, gas and time list from work. At my last appointment with Dr Manson, the room was chilly. He brought several other doctors with him. When I'm cold, my skin tightens up, and they are harder to feel. The doctors could only get the ones on my ribs. I didn't ask them to examine the ones in my hips or stomach. I had… an appointment several weeks later with Dr Manson and wore yoga pants, which makes it easier to feel them. You don't have to push down as hard and I'm warmer. He came into the room and literally plopped down on the chair, threw up his hands, and said "what do you want?" He refused to examine me. After about two or three minutes, he got up and left. I was so embarrassed and crying. After about 20 minutes or more, I peaked out, since he never came back. Everyone was gone! Even reception! I filed a complaint and basically the nursing staff was made to take responsibility for how I was treated. On top of it, the letter I received said they didn't agree with my diagnosis. They undiagnosed me?!! My PCP was very upset and referred me to another surgeon who removed them from my thighs first, because my legs were going numb, and I was falling. There were so many, the cannula kept clogging up and needed changed. We are discussing getting them out of my stomach, hips and off of my ribs now. Even though they are bigger and more painful, they weren't affecting mobility, do I wanted to take care of my legs first. I really felt like I was going to be in great hands and felt safe at John's Hopkins. The humiliation I felt will keep me from ever going back for anything. I will definitely not recommend to anyone else.

Dr Manson was short with me gave no advice on best procedure for post MOHS surgery on my nose Said I will do whatever you want me Now even years later I am still depressed and feel deformed from is total lack of informing which type of reconstruction would have the best results He because of his total uncaring attitude has left me so depressed I hide from public view

He clearly saved my life by correctly diagnosing my cancer when it was missed by multiple other doctors. Excellent bedside manner, funny, caring, and get taste in foods. He conducted my surgeries with the utmost care and preeminent skills

Dr. Manson was my mentor, surgeon, and friend over 25 years. Since "Hopkins is no longer Hopkins" changes brought lowering of standards. Unfortunately the toll upon doctors and staff has adversely affected patients.

The time has come to hang up his scapel All good things must come to a pragmatic ending rather than facing regrets

i was privileged to be seen by dr.manson and his partner dr wells in 1977. they removed a tumor from my perodid gland. it was not life threatening, but it could have been extremely disfiguring. as it was, it recurred 2yrs later. fortunately time and age had stretched my skin enough i did not need a scapular repair! the kind, gentle demeanor of dr manson made this traumatic issue easier to deal with. loss of nerve function in parts of my face was one side effect. two nerves had to be removed on the lower jaw- those that controlled your smile and the "apple" in your cheek. over the course of 40 years the nerves regenerated quite a bit! if you've ever put your tongue on the end of a battery, that little zing is what it felt like every time a nerve made a new contact! sincerely, patricia anne hall richmond, va

The Dr is a very good Dr. I had Paul Manson in the mid 1980s, did a great job on me. If you need a plastic Surgeon, you will never regret it. He's one of the best
