Dr. Paul Lynn Marek, MD

I spent 40 days in st cloud’s Hospital. Dr. Marek is the consummate Professional. He spent plenty of time helping me understand what sepsis and gangarene did to my organs. He helped me with understanding the incredibly scary delirium I experienced. Dr. Marek helped champion my care. He kept my attitude up as I was a bit shaken about going code blue and dancing on the flatline. He was a very positive part of my incredible experience. Dr Marek came into my 79 year old mothers room 6 hours after she had been admitted. ( he was the first Dr to see her) after he said “ I understand you’re upset for waiting so long” and we said yes we are, he told us if we didn’t like the care my mother was receiving we could take her to another hospital. Dr Marek, please work on your bedside manor so another family doesn’t have to be subject to such treatment. ( nursing staff was great!)

I was shocked and appalled at the nerve of this doctor. This is where people get the notion that doctors think they are God. This man barely knew my dad and I would bet didn't read past page 2 of his chart. But he felt sure enough of his skill as a 'hospitalist' to refer my dad to hospice care. My dad still has options, as other doctors have confirmed, and hospice is not on his list of possibilities YET. Marek's manner of delivering bad information was so brusque and lacking in compassion, it's a wonder my dad didn't go off the deep end. As it was, he was very depressed by the news he had not expected. (And should not have heard, because he is not THERE yet.) By the way, my dad has had time to recover from the infections he had and is really getting back into good health. I feel sorry for anyone who has Dr. Marek, especially people who don't have the knowledge base to realize it's just ONE guy with one opinion. He's NOT God. He's not even a good doctor.

I have never in my life experienced such a cold personality as I did with Dr. Marek. I actually had this experience many months back but I felt that I needed time to calm down before writing this review. I was actually hoping that I would accept his behaviour better if I had time to think about it. His bed side manner is the absolute worst thing I have ever witnessed in my life. My dad was very sick and frail and certainly did not need this guy talking to him the way he did let alone how rough Dr. Marek treated him while doing just some basic test with his stehtoscope. It was like he had no regard for the pain he was causing by abruptly pushing his patient around. It is very obvious that this guy got into this field for the money because he certainly has no compassion for a gravely ill patient or a grieving family. Hopefully for his sake he ends up in a huge hospital where the patients would not have a choice if they have to see him or not. If he relied on repeat business he would… drive his employer out of business. Very poor, poor doctor, avoid if you can!!!
