Dr. Paul A. Patrick, MD

I went to the emergency room in 2021 for an emergency allergic reaction to a medication. I basically went partially blind for a couple days. When he first came in, I was confused I thought he was wearing a tiara because my vision was so messed up and everything was blurred and he made a comment like he was so joking/ offended “why would I be wearing a tiara”. I was incredibly scared I was going to lose my vision and this doctor was an absolute jerk, didn’t really check anything, told me he would prescribe me a steroid for the puffiness around my eyes and never did. I was encouraged to go the emergency room by my doctors office and he was just making jokes and invalidated me basically saying “why did you even come just stop taking the medicine” which I did obviously stop taking it but I was scared. Classic narcissistic pompous doctor who is clearly just in it for the money and has a god complex because he has a degree. This emergency visit was a waste of my time and he is clearly not… someone who has a gift in helping people and interacting with patients. Dare I might say his attitude and dismissiveness was because I was a younger woman- I must be over- dramatic and over-embellishing my experience and reaction. The gaslighting was insane too “it’s not even that bad”! I seriously hated this man. I was not impressed by his character or banter. People like these should never go into the medical field- but it’s very common!

Excellent Emergency Physician who is able to diagnose critical event occurring in a patient and treat them thoroughly, appropriately, and expediently. I was taken to Unity Emergency Department by ambulance in September 2021 for shortness of breath and increased heart rate which ambulance personnel confirmed was afib. After I was gotten into a cubicle in the Emergency Department, Dr. Paul Patrick M.D. came in to see me immediately and listened to my lungs which resulted in him ordering a portable chest x-ray stat to confirm his assessment of congestive heart failure. He stayed right there to see results. I was also hooked up to telemetry, received EKG, and was ordered the appropriate blood work including BNP and troponin, and he ordered IV push lasix and cardiazem. I shared my concern that I might have a pulmonary embolism and he agreed that I should receive a CT pulmonary angiogram. My cardiologist, who was also excellent, who came to see me after my admission to the cardiac floor,… was impressed with Dr. Patrick's differential diagnosis progress notes. I received the CT pulmonary angiogram after being admitted to the cardiac floor and I did have a pulmonary embolism for which I was treated for in addition to acute rapid afib and congestive heart failure; all new conditions/diagnoses for me. Dr. Paul Patrick showed concern and compassion in addition to being attentive and thorough.

Dr. Paul Patrick was the ER doctor who cared and diagnosed my symptoms of the disease that caused me to go to the Unity ER. With his expertise, he ordered the correct tests and follow up prescriptions. He was friendly, caring, and very professional. My entire experience with Dr. Patrick was exceptional, and I was grateful that he was the attending ER doctor that day.

Absolutely no bedside manner when it comes to pain he tends to look down on ppl who have a history of drug abuse like myself I luckily got better and got help but this guy is so nasty and phony I can remember the nurse having to put a catheter in me and I’m a guy so you can imagine how much that hurts especially if you aren’t used to having one I was crying and screaming and he was telling me to calm down I’m gonna make the other patients think I’m nuts I looked at him and said are you crazy this hurts he tells me to watch my mouth I highly don’t recommend this doctor I’m surprised unity even hired him to work for there emergency department he used to be at strong I wonder why he left there was it because of his attitude hmmm????
