Dr. Paul Loy Pickering, MD

Let me start by saying I never leave negative reviews, however, I feel that I need to speak up on this one. When I was under Dr. Pickering's care, I was at his office probably more than any other patient getting fed antibiotics over and over. I was clearly sick, something was wrong, I was crying hysterical in his office begging for him to run blood tests and he said "I can test everything" and I asked to test for anything especially auto-immune tests since I was diagnosed hypo-thyroid. He refused. He looked me in the eye at one of the lowest points in my life and said "Tests are a waste of time and money and all it will do is worry you." I will never forget those words. It is now a few years later and I was recently diagnosed with chronic lyme disease. I have been treating it for two years now and life has been horrible and completely took over my entire life, leaving me bed ridden for months on end. Yes, Dr. Pickering comes off as a very kind and personable person. But he failed me. I… will carry that with me for the rest of my life that he did not run any of the tests I asked for and my insurance covered. If you want to be given antibiotics at every visit, which, especially if you have a problem like mine, will make you worse, than continue to see this doctor. If you want to be HEALED and not dismissed, choose someone else. I wonder every day if he would have ran those tests how my life would be today. I would still be a teacher, I wouldn't have lost 65 pounds, and I wouldn't have been in the ER twice a month for being so ill. There is no going back now, I am getting the proper medical attention from a doctor who actually listens to me and works with me to help CURE ME. Not just treat the symptoms and never look into anything else. Please, do your research and don't just listen to what a doctor says. Listen to your body.

I was referred to Dr. Pickering last year when I had an urgent need. He met with me on short notice and spent adequate time getting my medical history prior to diagnosing any of my then-current symptoms. He also called me later that day to clarify an issue that I had brought up in the appointment. His promptness in getting back to me, along with the fact that he called me directly, made me very impressed with his care for his patience.
