Dr. Paul E Smith, MD

This doctor was the surgeon for my mother's breast cancer. He recommended a sentinel node biopsy which is a very painful procedure to see if the nodes are cancerous. The medical team who did the procedure told Dr. Smith that the nodes were clear but he took nodes anyway during my mother's lumpectomy. Again tests showed the nodes were clear but now my mother had to deal with all the horrible side effects from the removal. She had to see the physical therapist for months as a result. Why on earth recommend she have this procedure if he isn't going to listen to the tech's who did it? Ugh! Then during a follow-up visit for her lumpectomy, at which I was also present, he slapped a large piece of medical adhesive tape right over her surgical sight! It took forever to remove this tape and caused my mother terrible pain. He also has a terrible bedside manner and struts around the small town hospital like he's God's gift to the medical community. On a good note he was let go from Clearwater… Valley Hospital but I am not sure of he is still practicing at other hospitals in the area. I sure hope not.
