Dr. Smith was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1964 and, along with his family, including five brothers, he moved to Georgia in 1972. His ties to the community run deep. He graduated from Morrow Senior High School in 1982.
After high school Dr. Smith didn't stray too far. He graduated from Emory University in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in psychology. He went on to attend dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, S.C., where he earned his doctorate of medical dentistry in 1990.
Following graduation, Dr. Smith returned to Morrow to practice dentistry. For two years he worked as an associate with a local practice. In 1992, he opened his own practice in the office he still occupies today.
His personal life is closely tied to the area he grew up and now works. Dr. Smith married Cathy Lassiter, a Henry County native, in 1992. The couple now has three children, Drew who is 7, Anna, 6, and Abby, 3. Dr. Smith's mom still lives in Jonesboro, as well.
