Worst doctor I’ve EVER dealt with! No bedside manner what so ever!!! Made my 64 year old mom bawl! Stomped out of the room after I asked for my mom to be seen by another doctor. We waited another 20 min in there after he just left us in there until I asked for help by a worker. I complained about him and was even told that he has a history of “not being patient with his patients sometimes”. My mom dealt with him about 20 years ago and he was as rude as he was this time. That’s why she had me go with her this time so that I could advocate for her! I’m so thankful I did! Wish I could do a NO STAR rating!

Dr. Sternenberg is very good! He listened to my concerns about my left thumb and layed out my options in a professional and kind way. He made notes about the damage and his extensive knowledge was evident. He didn't talk down to me like some doctors do. Highly recommend!

For years I have been living with a badly injured left hand. Years of hard use commercial fishing, commercial house painting, and then a mountain biking incident that damaged and tore all my tendons in my left hand, literally left me with the use of only my right. As a 57yr old hands on artist, I was living with a daily stress of working with a painful and immobile left hand while relying on my right hand to do the work of two. I worried everyday how I was going keep working and creating with only half my tools. The thought of hand surgery made me so uncomfortable, I put off addressing it until I just couldn’t live with the pain and immobility of my left hand anymore. After my first meeting with Dr Sternenberg, I wish I had met with him a couple years earlier. After reviewing my X-rays, Dr Sternenberg quickly, and in layman’s terms, explained exactly the state of my left hand. I was suggested (2)options: a simpler operation to fuse the hand, stopping the pain, but limiting mobility,… or a more complex operation of reattaching tendons, hopefully restoring most of the hand’s mobility. Both options could work, but after a second visit, I opted for the more complex surgery, trusting Dr Sternenberg’s skill as a surgeon. I am squeamish with needles and was quite nervous going in the day of the surgery. I had never broken a bone, got only one stitch in my toe once, never had a surgery, and had never been anesthetized. From check-in, to IV, to numbing my arm, to peacefully anesthetizing me on the operating table, Dr Sternenberg’s staff was exemplary. They did everything perfectly, knowing how squeamish I was, and cheerfully listened to my nervous ramblings with humor, and saying all the good things to calm me down. For something that has been causing me to lose sleep for years, I don’t remember anything during the surgery, and even with all the numbing needles during prep, It was, to me, remarkably rather painless. The entire procedure, overall, was actually dreamy, and I owe it to a sweet staff, experienced with super nervous patients like myself. It’s going to be a few months of PT before we know just how well Dr Sternenberg’s hands did on my hand, but if it heals as smoothly as the procedure to fix it did, I was literally in good hands.

Met with Dr Sternenberg to discuss test results and options going forward. He is likeable, professional, and able to explain things in easy- to -understand terms. He was very patient in taking the time to explain my test results and answer all my questions about the procedure he recommended. No surgery is risk free, but I feel like my hand is in good hands with Dr S.

I had a fight with a table saw, the saw won.. I was referred to Dr.Sterenberg thinking he would amputate my thumb down to the first knuckle. It was hamburger.. This man put in 11 stitches, shortened it, and saved half my thumb nail. Unbelievable.. Awesome Dr. He answered each and every questions I had. His nursing staff was excellent. Long story short, if you get in a fight with a table saw Dr. Sternberg's the man you want to repair the damage.

I have had a great experience with Dr Sternenberg and Southern Oregon Orthopedics. On time visits, thorough explanation and excellent care. I am so grateful for him.

I was very disappointed with my visit. Staff could not provide an itemized bill and would only sell me a “package” that included things I did not receive. I spoke with Dr. Sternenberg, regarding my hand issue and his only offer was surgery and cortisone shots. Overall, my experience was less than satisfactory. I paid 350 dollars for a “package” which was a 10 minute conversation with minimal options.
