About Dr. Straughn
Dr. Paul Straughn, and his wife, Connie, have lived and worked in Franklin, TN since he
opened his dental practice in 1983. They are the proud parents of a son, Nathan, who is recently engaged. Nathan is interested in teaching and mission work. Having grown up in Chattanooga, Dr. Paul dreamed of raising his family and building their life together in a community with that same nurturing environment that he experienced as a kid. Once you meet him, you know he’s a consummate professional. He worked hard to excel in school and received his B.S. in Biochemistry from David Lipscomb University in 1979. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in 1983, where he was named to the Dean Honorary Society.
Ever dedicated to his profession, Dr. Straughn received the Fellowship award of the Academy of General Dentistry in 1998 for completing over 500 hours of continuing education and passing a rigorous and comprehensive exam. He believes …that ongoing education for himself, his staff and his patients is a fundamental expectation that any patient should have of their dentist.   Today, he remains an active member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry to continue to learn about new ways to improve your dental health.

On a personal note, Dr. Paul and his family are members of Berry’s Chapel church of Christ in Franklin, where he is the deacon in charge of Missions as well as a Bible class teacher.  He has made several mission trips to Honduras, doing dentistry, construction, and teaching.  One of his passions in life is singing. Dr. Paul leads the singing in church services, and he can be known to hum a few bars while working on patients. You’ll enjoy getting to know him and his dry sense of humor, in addition to his compassionate care. Dr. Straughn also has a creative side – he loves to design and create projects in wood and tackle home remodeling projects. He and his wife give back to the community in a number of ways, including volunteering with the Williamson County Animal Shelter.
