Dr. Paul Joseph Tuite, MD

Dr. Tuite blew into my husbands hospital room at the U of MN in the early morning hours after he had been admitted the night before. My husband had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and was transferred to the U of MN from Fairview Princeton hospital. Without so much as an exam of my husband he sits down across from me and tells me I need to do a spend down and find a facility to put my husband in. Good Lord, I wish he could see him now. He was released without any need to do physical or occupational therapy. Yes he was diagnosed with Alzheimers, but is nowhere near the point where he needs to go into a facility. He left me so frightened as to what I was going to do. I'm so tired of doctors flying through the door and making snap decisions without knowing the whole story.

I have never seen a worse Doctor in my life. I was sent to Dr. Tuite for body tremors and back pain. He spent almost 2 hours with me mostly a oral history of my personal life since birth with a 10 minute a physical exam. His opinion at the end of the appointment was that my tremors were caused by PTSD from things in my past. After having the pain for 2 more years I finally made it to the Mayo clinic and they figured out I needed orthotics for flat feet in the first appointment.

Was very distant during my first appointment regarding my Parkinson's disease. I was his first appointment of the day and he acted like he was "burned out", overworked, and tired. Found out there are better medications for me. Only wanted to discuss deep brain surgery. Not up on all the new meds that are available today. My situation not validated and recently he told staff that he had no ideas for what I could do about my Parkinson's. I went elsewhere and got help.

Lacks compassion

He is up to date on Parkinson's research and new medications. Cutting edge. He is easy to talk to. He does not "talk down" to you-he takes time with you and answers your questions. He's not rushing you out the door to see his next patient. He's very knowledgeable on Parkinson's. He tells you what other options/medications can be tried if something isn't working.

I went in with a fairly specific complaint, but had difficulty describing it since he was clearly working through a checklist of mostly irrelevant questions. Even when I managed to interject with actually relevant information, which was infrequently given the pace at which he was asking questions, he misunderstood several of them, or didn't listen particularly carefully. Overall my visit was less useful than just looking up symptoms on wikipedia.

Left feeling even more hopeless but eventually sought out another doctor and have found there is treatment to improve quality of life. Had heard good things about this doctor but he complained about being tired and basically told me to give up hope.

Dissappointing. Had waited months and heard great things about him so was very hopeful that he was the best person to help my loved one that suffers so much every day and left the appointment devasted by the news that there is nothing that can be done for my child, his delivery was pretty insensitive. He seemed annoyed and bored (yawned while I told him about my child's daily struggles).

Dr Tuite is an exceptional doctor and I am so grateful to have found him. I have had Parkinson's for almost 10 years-diagnosed at 49. He has guided me in all aspects of my life-a caring and thorough exam every time I visit. He has challenged me to take control of my disease and always answers all my questions.I travel from out of state over 2200 miles roundtrip to see him.

I found him to be unengaging and vague. He never addressed the issue that I was there to see him about.
