Dr. Paul Taylor Wilkes, MD

I had the absolute best team helping me during my pregnancy and birth. The nurses were all very sweet and knowledgeable as well as the ultrasound techs. I couldn’t have chosen a better doctor than Dr. Paul Wilkes! As soon as I met him I knew right away this is my doctor and this is who I want to deliver my greatest blessing. He was so friendly, patient and dealt with all my anxieties throughout my pregnancy. He gave me very good medical advice and answered all my questions. I never felt rushed and I was so grateful he was only a text away. All of my appointments went great and I was very lucky that my baby was very healthy. He always reminded me that he was here for me and to not hesitate to contact him no matter what. When it was time for delivery he kept the situation very light eventhough I was freaking out internally. He had such a sense of calmness that it started to rub off on me. I had a c section and Dr. Wilkes worked his magic on me. My husband who is also a doctor watched… the whole surgery and he was in awe of how amazing he was and how quick and flawless he was even down to the stitching. He is the most amazing doctor ever and I’m so grateful and I would recommend him to everyone! All the mommas deserve to have the same experience I did and I couldn’t have done it without him. I am in my 40s and saw Dr. Wilkes as a high risk patient. After going through multiple rounds of IVF and having a difficult journey, I felt in great hands with Dr. Wilkes. I had a couple of SCH's during the pregnancy where I had heavy bleeding and both times I thought I lost the baby. Dr. Wilkes was always so funny but he was very serious that day and told me that the placenta had partially detached and if it had fully detached, it would have been a miscarriage. I knew it could go either way for me, but he told me he delivered a baby a few days earlier and the woman had had the same thing happen around the same time as me during her pregnancy. He told me my baby wasn't feeling any pain and had no idea what was going on around her, and that brought me comfort. He felt it was safest for me to do a C section and I trusted his judgment even though I was scared to go through the procedure. He did an excellent job and my baby was out so fast and perfectly healthy. He always had a… very positive attitude and made me laugh and feel comfortable at every appointment as well as the hospital setting. I am a nurse and I also noticed how kind and respectful he was to the staff, which is something not all doctors are. I had to go for visits twice a week towards the end of the pregnancy, and sometimes it was busy and a little bit of a wait, but I never minded waiting because I knew Dr. Wilkes would sit with me and answer all my questions (I always had a lot!) and he never made me feel rushed. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a caring doctor, and especially if they are high risk. My parents came with me to a lot of the appointments and my mom baked him some bread my last visit. We all loved him and are so grateful to him for getting us our perfect, healthy little girl!

Dr. Wilkes is the best doctor I have ever visited with. His bedside manner is unbeatable. He truly cares about all of his patients and their babies. He takes his time during appointments and never makes you feel rushed out of the office. He is very frank, does not sugar coat anything and fully explains everything in detail. Not only is he an excellent OBGYN, but whenever I needed recommendations for other providers for my husband, my children or myself, he made recommendations and sent information as if we were his own family. I fully trust Dr. Wilkes with all of my pregnancies.

I could not have chosen a better doctor or practice to trust with my pregnancy and childbirth! Dr. Wilkes was calm, attentive, and ultimately gave me the best possible delivery experience. His office and team ran on time, were equally helpful and kind, and responded to phone calls promptly. Highly highly recommend!

Amazing wonderful doctor and staff, from the moment you go into their building to when you leave you are treated like the only pregnant woman in the world. It’s so refreshing and perfect! If you are seeking an OBGYN look no further. He took time to get to know me and listened to my every concern and that put my mind at peace since I previously lost a child. There are no words to say how amazing Dr. Wilkes is! The care that he showed through 2 of my pregnancies was so far beyond my expectations. As someone who previously had a home birth, it was so refreshing to have a medical doctor willing to allow me to do things as naturally as possible, but have the support of modern medicine and interventions just as needed. If you want a doctor that will listen to you, yet have so much knowledge and experience to guide you through the tough journey of a pregnancy then look no further! Dr. Wilkes’ sense of humor and kindness make him a rare treasure in the medical field. After suffering 2 losses, it was our confidence in Dr. Wilkes ability to help us through anything that gave us the strength to try again. He was there whenever I needed him with all of the scares along the way. We now have another healthy and happy baby. We are forever grateful to Dr. Wilkes!!! I wish he could be my doctor for everything. The entire team at Desert Perinatal… is also top notch. From the office staff to all of the ultrasound techs, they are kind and professional. You won’t be disappointed.

I was referred to Dr. Wilkes for regular OB care. A few years down the road I got pregnant and being 38 I fell into the high risk category. The staff at Desert Perinatal were always on top of it, friendly and attentive. When it came time for delivery Dr. Wilkes showed up with his upbeat very pleasant personality he always has. Forceps had to be used to get my son out, I knew everything was under control being under his care. I would recommend this practice and especially Dr. Wilkes to anyone.

So my story begins with over 10 years of infertility. I could not sustain a pregnancy, so we went the IVF route. After finally getting pregnant, and making it past the 8 week mark, I searched high and low for the best MFM in the area and came across Dr. Wilkes at Desert Perinatal Associates. I made my first appointment and after that appointment I knew I was in the best hands possible. Dr. Wilkes is amazing and I truly believe that if not for him, I may not have my beautiful baby boy today. My pregnancy was high risk is almost every way possible, three previous miscarriages, IVF pregnancy, I am overweight, gestational diabetes, and velamentous cord insertion. Dr. Wilkes monitored my pregnancy like a hawk, ensuring that our baby boy was safe at all times. No question was too dumb, no concern was too small. He made us feel validated in our feelings at all times and treated us like family every time he saw us. I appreciate Dr. Wilkes and his team more than I can ever express. He… literally made all of our dreams come true. If we were ever to have another baby Dr. Wilkes would be who we choose no doubt!

De. Wilkes is an amazing doctor. He delivered a our first baby, via C-section surgery. From the first visit to the delivery he made us feel so comfortable and at ease. We are grateful to have had him as our doctor. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Wilkes was recommended to me by two of my friends and I’m so glad that I saw him. He is an amazing physician. He got me through 2 high risk pregnancies, my first resulting in a preterm delivery due to complications. Ultimately, everything turned out well. He is very experienced and clearly loves his job. He was always very accessible and available to address any concerns/questions I had. I trust him completely and couldn’t recommend him highly enough!
