Dr. Paula Lou Nauer, MD

Dr. Nauer is great, but her support staff are not. As an example: the doctor scheduled me for a cardiac test, and her two female staff giggled through the entire procedure. One of them accidentally struck me in a particularly sensitive area. She apologized for striking me, but not for laughing throughout my procedure. Afterwards, the technician told me, "Well, you have a mitral valve prolapse." I knew that--that's why I had the test. I can only conclude that there is little communication in this office. Another example of how rude the support staff are: When I went to the reception desk to sign in, the extraordinarily loud receptionist announced in her outside voice, "You still owe a fee from your last visit." I told her in a polite voice, "No, I do not." She decided after several minutes that, "It's OK, I just applied it to this visit." My co-pay was the same so instead of admitting she was mistaken, she made that odd statement. I don't mind if people make mistakes--we all make… mistakes. But at least announce to the rest of the planet that your initial implication was wrong. I also heard another receptionist berating her co-worker for being a slacker--it seems inappropriate for patients to overhear this. Another example: After taking my blood pressure, Dr. Nauer's male nurse asked if I was sick. Yes, I had a cold. He promptly left the room. I later discovered that if you have a cold, you may temporarily have higher blood pressure than normal. But he did not volunteer this information, which was a little worrisome for me as the patient. Naturally I wondered if I was more sick than I thought.

This doctor cancelled a prescription refill with my pharmacy because I did not schedule my mammogram. No warning, no follow-up but had the time to take out of her day to call my pharmacy not me. I was shocked by this behavior, I have already found a new that can treat me like a patient and not dish punishment for not following instructions.

Dr. Nauer listens to what you have to say which I appreciate. She never seem to be rushing off to someone else. I appreciateher as a physician.

Dr. Nauer was my primary care physician for the first 20 years of my life. She is amazing and if I ever move back to Kansas City, I will be seeing her without a doubt!
