I am Board Certified in Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I earned my M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.I completed psychiatric residencies in both Brazil and at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio as well as a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). I am a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. I trained many medical and psychiatric residents, medical students and psychiatric nurse practitioners.I am also a published author of the book: A Blueprint for the Hard Problem of Consciousness.
