Dr. Pavani Kuruma, MD

Dr. Kuruma has been my physician now for a few years. The best part about her is that she listens patiently and offers relevant good medical advice. I have been able to make appointments with her at a really short notice. Her office follows up with me on the progress of my treatment.

Dr.Karuma listens and is practical in her advice.

This doctor is not interested enough to explore new alternatives of treatment. She also needs to listen to her patients with more interest and respect.

Doctor Kuruma became my general practitioner when my former GP retired. I toyed with the idea of changing to a different doctor closer to my home but eventually decided to make an appointment to meet her when it was time to renew a prescription. She is a lovely person, very good listener. Also, I needed a referral to a dermatologist and to an allergy specialist. She gave me both and prescribed something to ease the symptoms until I could see the specialists. So far so good. I hope she continues to practice in Berkeley.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Kuruma. She listens carefully, doesn't seem rushed, follows up, and refers to specialists to make sure she's not missing anything.

I started seeing this doctor by accident because mine was not available. She seems to lack basic knowledge about medicine or proper follow up. She spends very little time and does no follow up.

Similar to other reviewers: Not only did I find Dr. Kuruma to be unpleasant in her manner, she did not diagnose well and was not thorough. I was prescribed medicine that actually made the problem worse! Beyond her attitude her diligence is severely in question in my book. I can deal with a little attitude if I am getting top notch care from a smart and caring person. I did not have that experience with Dr. Kuruma and have wondered why she became a doctor. The office staff was mostly very nice.

Unfortunately, Dr. Kuruma lacks any bedside manner and knowledge of medicine. Although she calls to follow up and "see if you are okay"- it is with no apology, too late, and taking no responsibility for her horrible medical treatment that she has given. I would rather have DECENT care instead of a phone call afterward! She is a horrible doctor and I worry about future patients who have any kind of serious condition.

I had two visits with this person. On both occasions she had the worst bed side manner and my health concerns were not addressed. Frankly I'm surprised she's able to practice medicine as she seems rather oblivious as to what patient care means. The general office staff wasn't very helpful either.
