Dr. Pavel Polehna, MD

Would not take patient history, and failed to provide clear explanation of his decision re: diagnosis and treatment. This is one of those doctors who will not listen to their patient. I sought routine care for a chronic condition I've been managing for 15 years. This man would not let me explain my history with the condition, nor was he interested in hearing my experience with different treatments. Talked over me throughout our entire interaction; this guy has a very hostile, dismissive attitude towards his patients. Avoid if you can.

He listened to my concerns & helped me diagnose my problem. Very helpful

I have never had a worse experience with a doctor. He rushed through my telehealth appointment (7 min) and during that time was condescending and chastising. In the end the strategy for care that he offered landed me going to urgent care to have another professional help me.

Lousy excuse for a dr

I've had a sinus infection since early last month that wasn't going away. Another doc prescribed 5 days of Augmentin which worked beautifully, but unfortunately a few days later, the same symptoms returned with a vengeance. Usually that means the antibiotic didn't completely knock out the infection, which is not surprising in this case since one is often given 10 days' worth of Augmentin for a sinus infection. So I went to this doctor and explained this. As another reviewer said, he listened to me for a few seconds and spent the rest of the time scolding me and telling me it was an allergy (after I told him I don't have allergies) or a virus (even though the same symptoms that the antibiotic knocked out came right back after stopping the antibiotic). So...he thinks it more likely that a brand-new virus caused this same thing I've been sick with all month? What a coincidence! I think it's much more likely to be bacteria, which got almost-but-not-quite knocked out with the short course… of antibiotics. He even tried to explain that "antibiotics won't work on a virus." Gee thanks. I've been an RN for longer than he's been a doctor -- I'm quite familiar with antibiotics and what they do and do not treat. I also know that incomplete treatment of bacterial infections is part of what's gotten us in such a mess with drug-resistant bacteria. (Yay.) I'm VERY selective about asking for an antibiotic. I was sick for weeks before requesting one -- clearly was NOT a virus. At first I thought maybe this guy was having a very bad day, with his mansplaining and failure to listen, but now I see that others have had the same problems. Avoid.

Went in because I had a bad case of tonsillitis he gave me antibiotics to treat it. It came back 5 times before I decided to get another doctor. when I did my new doctor said that he wasn't giving me the right antibiotics to treat tonsillitis. this whole time I was getting the wrong antibiotics he wrote me a doctors excuse for 2 days off of work when I asked for a few extra days he told me no that he can't gave me more days just for tonsillitis. when he left the nurse saw that I was really sick and told me if I need more time off to just call in to the doctors office. Keep in mind my throat was so swollen I had a hard time eating chicken noodle soup.

Highly unimpressed with this doctor. I went in to the office because I had a cold/flu and needed to get a doctor's note to excuse me from calling out from work. He told me, "everybody gets colds and if I excuse everybody who has a cold, nobody would go to work. I don't typically write doctor's notes for this situation." When I asked him if I should go into work the next time I'm sick instead of calling out, he said I should go into work because I wouldn't be contagious. I felt like he was trying to convince me that I was suffering with allergies instead of a cold/flu, or even being dramatic about being sick, simply because I came in when my fever subsided. I don't get sick very often but the very few times that I do get sick, the doctor's I've seen in the past have always told me to stay home from work so I don't spread germs. I've never had a doctor tell me that cold's aren't contagious. Ultimately, we spent about 5 minutes together - 30 seconds of me telling him my symptoms and… the rest was him scolding me.

Great w/my daughter and addressing the issue plus more! Very genuine! I was very impressed!

The Dr is bad...... He gave me wrong meds and was nasty to me ......

I love DR. Polehna. I have seen him 4 times when NO else can figure out what is wrong with me. 4 times he has gotten it right. I wish I could have him as my primary doctor.
