Dr. Pedro Lopez, MD

Absolutely the worst doctor I have ever visited. I am new to he area and needed a new pulmonologist. I was able to get an appointment quickly with this obnoxious person. I can certainly see why.

Hands down the worst pulmonologist I have ever visited. I am new to the area and needed a new lung specialist. Dr. Lopez appeared on a random Google search. I made the appointment and went in for my visit. I have never been more disappointed. Lopez is the most arrogant and least caring doctor I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. He provides no information. Quite frankly I left having no idea if I was doing well or about to die. Because the practice group has good ratings overall,however, I made an appointment with one of his colleagues, Dr. Azam. The difference is night and day. I will continue to see Dr. Azam. Do yourself a favor and skip the wasted appt. you will experience with Lopez. Go to one of the other doctors in the practice that is actually competent and compassionate.

"How are you doing?" "Your lungs look fine". "No one knows why you're having trouble". "Try this and see you in 3 mos". Why again in 3 mos if my lungs look fine and my problem is unknown? I'm thinking its so I can pay the specialist copay to fatten his pockets. Have seen him 6 times and it's the same each time. I have no faith that he even cares. His arrogant, uncaring manor is not appreciated.

Dr. Lopez is the rudest doctor I have ever seen. He truly has a God complex. He does not explain things. He acts annoyed if you ask a question. He treats the staff like dirt. I saw him one time. That was one too many. There are plenty of great doctors out there. Do yourself a favor and use one of them. Do not use this pathetic excuse for a physician.

Left me on ventilator too long (according to every other doc who saw me in hospital) then kept trying to wean me and I kept failing. When this would happen, I would get very sick & twice I went into cardiac arrest. He acted like he didn't know why. This went on for 2 months. He also acted like he just couldn't be nderstand why I couldn't get rid of the pneumonia but kept telling my family that I was "too sick to be moved to another hospital". Finally when I was well enough my family moved me to a LTACH in MS and the first day there they did a controlled barium swallow & saw that all the trauma from the ventilator had caused a hole inside my throat which was allowing food and/or water to get into my lungs every time I put something in my mouth. Dr Lopez claimed to have done this exact test at least 3 times, along with looking down my throat other ways many times. How did he not see this? The UAB jet came & got me because only 2-3 people's in the southeast perform the surgery needed to… repair my throat. So I wound up getting a tracheostomy and a feeding tube. I spent over 300 days in the hospital. Finally, 8 surgeries later, I can eat and talk again. Through it all he was very short with my family all but telling them I was going to die because I was "so sick".....when he was the one MAKING ME SICK!! DO NOT USE THIS "DOCTOR"!

I saw Dr. Lopez for the first and last time this week. He clearly does not care about his patients. He is rude and obnoxious. He acts irritated if you ask a question. One he totally ignored my question. I know he heard me because he was about a foot away and facing me. Do yourself a favor. Find another doctor.

If you need a physician that will will not herd you through the office like cattle look elsewhere. Very uncaring and arrogant beyond belief.

After 4 scheduled appts with waits of 2 hours or MORE We will be collecting our records and transferring to an out of town doctor. On the last appt scheduled at 4 we thought we would have time to see doctor and pick up our child from choir at 6 especially since the office was to close at 5:30. However at 5:30 we were still waiting in a small uncomfortable holding room. When we came out to see how much longer it would be, the staff apologized and led us down the hall toward a visit room. We passed Dr Lopez in the hall and my husband told him we had to pick up our child at 6. He smirked and said " Good luck with that". We just left after that. We wouldn't have trusted anything he had to say. Surely we can find another doctor who is more caring and competent.
