Dr. Peter Kofi Asafo-Adjei, MD

While hospitalized he saw me daily and listened intently to my needs and concerns. I gave him FMLA paperwork and explained that I could not receive pay if it was not filled out. Gave it to him on a Thursday and he told me that he fills out that paperwork on weekends. I asked him daily for WEEKS if it was filled out an faxed - he said no. I was discharged to acute care and still not filled out. I am on home care and now without pay - I was informed by my job that he still hasn't sent it in. Such a shame as he did provide care in the hospital (although I had to remind him to write orders - he would tell me what should happen and then "forget" to write the orders). Hope he doesn't expect me to pay any bills since it's directly his fault I no longer receive a check for FMLA (required by law to have that paperwork)

Sadly to say, I have had many past hospitalizations and am very schooled in having a hospitalist as my provider. While in the hospital, Dr.Asafo was the hosptalist assigned to my care. The care he provided was below the standard of care I am accustom too. For starters, the nurses had to put out three calls to him, over a four hour period as he did not respond to their pages regarding my medical care. One of these calls was my request for pain medication. He then prescribed a pain medication I am highly allergic to. This drug allergy was noted in my chart. Despite me providing the hospital a list of my daily medications, Dr.Asafo failed to prescribe any them. It is standard protocol for a patient's at home medication to be prescribed while in the hospital. Dr.Asafo and I discussed a medication he planned to prescribe me that he forgot to prescribe. I followed up with his office regarding this matter, leaving more than one message for him to call in a prescription that was not called… in. There is no excuse for this. Part of good customer service and quality medical care is being available to patients and not ignoring them or their needs.

So he makes you wait for hours, but he was a really good Dr. and listened really well so I kept seeing him. Your appointment is for 9 am and you don't get into see him until after 1 pm and should you have an appointment for 1:30 and cancel they will charge you a fee even though he was 4 hours late and not even in the office yet. I hadn't seen him in 6 months and was just told he doesn't keep any patients that don't come in to see him every 3 months. I guess this Dr. only sees very sick patients that need to come in every 3 months so if you don't need this type of care and don't mind waiting for hours, I would find another Doctor. The office doesn't tell you upfront that they only take clients that are very sick and need appointments every 3 months. Very disappointed with this office and this Doctor.

Too fast, explain little,, would not listen, tried to refer me to a Gyn doctor that I could not afford. Pelvic issue resolved with another family medicine doctor with a quick exam.
