Dr. Peter Dottino is the best. I have been seeing him for 25 years. Although I do not live in the City - I fly back just to see him. I trust him completely. He has done a couple of surgeries and has always been conservative, forthright and caring. Need a second opinion- go to him. He is the best.

Run away from him he is not careful at all

My wife within the last year was diagnosed with Ovarian stage 3 c Cancer. I’m writing this comment, as a reference for those of you who have been hit with the terrible news you, or your love one has stage 3c ovarian cancer. Although I was on the neurosurgery board for one of the top 3 hospitals for 10 years. I was lost, as I was devastated. Some of you reading this might live in New York, and would like your family around you during this scary time. So if you’re a New Yorker, you probably think like me, you’ll have 5 good options. Not true. Two great hospitals at the time of our procedure Columbia and NYU had no Ovarian cancer surgical leads. I’m going to be direct because after reading some of Dr Dittino’s comments, there’s a dearth of info about the expertise needed to navigate this disease, so hopefully i’ll pull off being direct without be offensive. If my wife chose doctors at the other health institutions I doubt she be alive. In one case the head… refused to do the surgery, because he felt the fluid in my wife’s abdomen was so pervasive, that it would take him 3 hours to suction it out before he could attempt surgery. So my wife would have had to do chemo first with this surgeon. Since data is not conclusive favoring chemo before surgery this could have been a problematic outcome. The second head (actually number 2 at this hospital) suggested surgery first, but did share with the pervasiveness of the cancer, he asserted where ever my wife would have surgery preformed including MD Anderson, the data would support at best between 45 and 55 percent chance of an optimal outcome, meaning cancers sized down to one to two millimeters. Peter’s response was he would use a camera laparoscopicly to determine the outcome of surgery. If it proved as the first surgeon belevied there wasn’t enough visibility he would do chemo first, but if he chose to do surgery. His data and not the national data gives him 95 percent success getting cancer sized to one to two millimeters, which is what he accomplished for my wife. To be fair, if you were to go with Peter, I believe he better than anyone can get you, or your love one’s cancer down to one to two millimeters, yet, you’re still not out of the woods, as 15 percent of women who have successful procedures don’t survive. But with Peter, my opinion you at least have the best opportunity to be in the 85 percent category my wife is in now. BTW, Peter is very humble and respectful of his counterparts, what I find so fascinating about Peter is the quality of the person, behind the title. He’s by far the most down to earth surgeon, i have met and i’ve met a few. He’s filled with passion, love and commitment that humbled me and my wife. So if you’re actually the one contemplating a surgeon to chose, or you’re the loved one, and you want more insight, i’ll be happy to talk to you if Peter ask me too. Yes, Dr Dittino goes my Peter. Out of respect for the fine surgeons we saw, my comments will only be directed towards the many challenges my wife faced, and how Peter navigated each one. Hope this helps.

Is not a conservative doctor and does not respond to injuries from his surgery gone wrong

Simply the very best. Not just a great surgeon and specialist, but a real human being. He been my doctor for nine years. Can't think of a single negative. It no wonder he is considered one of the best in his field.

Spends time with you. Explains everything. Has a wonderful optimistic view. He makes me feel good about life and makes me want to live it. I believe he is saving my life.
