Dr. Peter Carlos Gerszten, MD

He paralyzed my father, who died months later from sepsis and bedsores. He came in to UPMC and came out paralyzed after this man’s surgery. He is a hack and a fraud. This is my truth! Do NOT trust him for your surgery! You may never walk again. My Dad never did.Do NOT go to this man. He is no good. They have wonderful marketing pictures and website, but it is all bad. You WILL NOT get the help you need from this man.

Unfortunately I had to have another surgery due to the pain level of this surgery that I had done there's tricor surgery and I guess it striker that was put in I'm not sure I'm trying to find out but it's still painful I need a real pain management but I don't like going to Joey pain management clinics where you have to sit with people and you can smell the sweat in the room it's disgusting I just wanted to go get it done and leave so yeah it was an overall as a great experience because it was numb but then it's slowly dissipated and I was crawling around on my knees and I had to go to someone else to have a sacriel like put in place too keep it keep it from not moving I have too much metal and severe rheumatoid arthritis now which I never had before I used to be a runner when I was young and a cheerleader and now I am just trying to get by so good luck with all of you to whatever you do I should have done more research with everything but come see come Sa, I was kind of like failed I… failed the FBS I don't know but this would be my third surgery in Life or for surgery probably since the age of 28,

I met Dr. just before an emergency surgery since my Neurosurgeon that had done my anterior and posterior multilevel fusion surgery was out of town. I wish I had had Dr. G from the beginning. He’s an all around surgeon. (Unfortunately I’ve had enough surgeries to know) He is Exactly what you’d want. And he doesn’t have that “God Complex” many surgeons do. His PA was wonderful as well. Thank you for fixing me up, Doctor!

I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. Dr. Gerszten is hands down the best neurosurgon. I had a spinal fusion of l4-S1and a herniated disc. In the beginning I couldnt even stand a 8hr work day without pain so excruciating I'd be in tears by the end of my 8 hour shift. I tried physical therapy, pain clinics, epidural steroid shots, chiropractic care. Nothing worked. I'm now 2 months post-OP and let me just tell you he gave me my life back. To be able to come home from work and spend time outside at the park with my 3yr old without suffering. I cannot thank Dr Gerszten enough. His bed side manor after surgery was amazing. Hes so easy to talk to. I've never been to a specialty office and felt so welcomed. From day 1 to today Dr Gerszten will always be my favorite. I highly suggest him to anyone suffering from back pain. "I didnt choose to have spondylolisthesis, but I did choose UPMC"!!! Thank you again Dr Gerszten. From the bottom of my heart. Your truly an amazing surgeon. Your… PA'S are wonderful as well!!

I have been operated on twice by Dr. Gerszten and I absolutely love him. When other doctors wouldn’t take the time to even talk to me, he did. The very first time I met him, he burst through the door and said, “ What took you so long to get to me? I am going to make you feel a whole lot better.” At which point, I began to sob. Thanks, Doc. I owe the quality of my life to this man! His skill has given me a life without pain at long last. I was terrified of the triple fusion ... and trust me.. its not a easy operation or recovery.. however, I can say now .. two years later... I am still pain free. He is gifted .. very nice.. and his staff is great. I recommend him whole heartedly

He was/is the most wonderful DR. you could want.

dr gerstzen is on eof the few doctors out there that actually care about the patient.he takes time to listen to you and answer your questions.he just doesnt care how many patients he can get in andc out the door as quick as possible. i saw 4 doctors before him and none of them wanted to hear me or give me a correct diagnosis. this is the second surgery ive had by him and he and his team make it a great experience. from the time you see him until after the surgery. he checks on you as well as his team. wouldnt see anyone else.

Listens to you, seems to care, answers all questions, explains everything well, takes his time. Could not be a better Doctor.
