Dr. Peter Allen Hartmann, MD

Please do yourself a favor and find another surgeon. His nurse practitioner is amazing but unfortunately I could not continue my care there. I am extremely surprised he is the head of Breast Center. Dr. Hartman Stated I had nothing to worry about it was definitely benign but I guess we will biopsy it anyway. He basically thought because I was 32 and healthy I had nothing to worry about. Something in my gut just had a feeling he was downplaying the situation. A few days later after calling the office multiple times for results and continually being brushed off by the office he called to say it came back as DCIS ER+. He spoke about it like it was not a big deal and there was huge lack of empathy and my husband and I cried in a room as we were both pulled out of work. Please please do research, check reviews and trust your gut. I took my care to Dana Farber and just finished radiation treatment. Find yourself a doctor who take your care seriously and have compassion for what you are… experiencing.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Dr Hartmann. He always listens and takes the time to hear what I have to say. A refreshing change from most doctors. He is very knowledgable and twice now has called me personally to let me know the results of my MRI, the same day as the procedure. I highly recommend him.

Overall my experience was very positive.

My experience with Dr Hartmann was less than satisfactory. Breast Surgeons today are expected to be knowledgeable about all areas of patient care - including the significance of a FH/PH of Breast or Ovarian cancer, Neoadjuvent therapy, Cancer Trials, Molecular and Hormonal Therapies, and prevention of Lymphedema. Dr Hartmann is not current in his knowledge or technique. He does not contribute to Team management nor does he care to look outside his own interest to do what best for patients. He also makes a mistake by making strong adjuvant recommendations without confering with the Specialists, thereby confusing patients and causing them undue stress

When I read in a Anna Jaques flier that Dr. Hartmann was now the leading breast surgeon there I almost spit my drink across the floor. NEVER go to a GENERAL SURGEON for anything but gallbladder, appendix and other small things. Go to a leading BREAST SURGEON!!!!!!!!!!!!! You would be making a mistake as he is arrogant and does not listen to family members. Everyone needs an advocate, but apparently he does not think so. Run for your life! He gives AJH a BAD name!

All of the critical remarks above are right on the money. this guy is not a good listener. he has his mind made up about thte pt before he examines them. Technically he is an average surgeon, I guess. he waits too long to deal with complications. My aunt was subjected to multiple ER visits, 5 hospitalizations and three surgeries in 6 months , all for the same sx. he never got things sorted out and argued with the patient about her concerns following the previous discharge. Anyway, the world has lots of wel-trained, capable and compassionate docs so seek other care.

Referred to him and got an appointment in 3 days.He came in and talked to me then returned within 5 minutes to examine me.He was very thorough.He explained to me what he had found and I gained some info I wasn't aware of.His manner was professional and courteous.Time will tell how it goes.I met someone I knew as I was leaving his office and they had good words for him.

Dr. Hartmann has an extremely poor bedside manner. He is haughty and uncaring. I would never recommend any patient to see him. He seems to have no idea how poorly he presents himself. NEVER go to him as a patient!!!!
