Dr. Peter Stephen Kamp, MD

He was part of my treatment team at the Professional Enhancement Program (PEP). Supposedly he is certified in addiction but doesn't use evidence based medical treatment for addiction; at least not that I saw. Likewise he supports "sexual addiction" as a disease which is not evidence based. Stay way from the PEP program, you'll get the shaft (no pun intended).

I've had him, not very good in my experience.

He spent less than ten minutes with my son at pine grove inpatient treatment facility in Hattiesburg 2013. The facility was great, the treatment and caregivers were a joke. My 6 year old was in group for adhd with suicidal teenagers, there was zero counseling and the ten minutes kamp spent with him was referred to as an evaluation and charged $300. Do not use him or this facility if you value your psyche or that of your child.

I saw Dr. Kamp in my twenties. He was the first psychiatrist I had ever worked with. He diagnosed me with depression. The doctors I have seen since him have diagnosed me with bipolar disorder, which I believe is the correct diagnosis. He prescribed me Effexor, which made me shaky, nervous, and manic. Additionally I lost 25 pounds in 3 months and began suffering from severe insomnia. I reported these symptoms to him, yet he saw no reason to take me off of the Effexor. He said I should not be having those symptoms, making me think he thought I was lying. Not sure how he couldn't see the weight loss, shakiness, nervousness, and mania. IHe was impersonal, distant, rude, and condescending. His attitude and behavior led me to believe that he did not respect me or think me worthy of good health care. After 3 visits I cancelled future appointments, went to the student health center at my university, stopped taking the effexor on a general practitioner's advice, and she referred me to a… different psychiatrist. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Kamp at all. Bad experience all around.
