Dr. Peter Lin, MD

Dr. Lin is the chief of the Endovascular Service at the Houston VA Medical Center, which is the largest VA medical center in the country. We provide the full spectrum of care to veterans with peripheral vascular disease. The vascular service at the Houston VA Medical center performs over 450 major vascular procedures per year with documented morbidity and mortality rate that are substantially lower than the national average. Our goal is to provide quality care to veterans inflicted with vascular disease. We serve the veteran communities in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Arkansas regions, and also welcome veterans from across the country to our institution for patient care. We specialize in minimally invasive vascular treatments using advanced endovascular therapy. Dr. Lin is currently the Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Lin received his surgery residency at the Chicago Medical School and completed fellowship training in endovascular surgery and general vascular surgery at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Lin is an outstanding academic surgeon and is highly respected by his colleagues. His clinical expertise is in endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, endovascular therapy in arterial occlusive disease, varicose veins/venous stasis ulcer, carotid artery disease and minimally invasive vascular therapy. His research interests are in cellular dysfunction in arterial and venous thrombosis and pharmacological modulation in thrombolytic therapy in arterial and venous thrombosis. Dr. Lin has received numerous awards and honors. He recently received the American Venous Forum Research Award in 2002 for his work in the role of L-arginine in thrombolytic therapy in an experimental chronic deep venous thrombosis model. He was also the recipient of the Allastair Karmody Award of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery in 2001, as well as, the winner of the Vascular Fellows Forum Award of the International Congress on Endovascular Interventions in 2000 for his work in an experimental carotid artery thrombolysis model.
