Dr. Peter Thomas Porrello, MD

If I could give Dr Porrello 0 stars I would. He put our family through so much heartache for 3 weeks over a misdiagnosis due to limited testing and extremely poor bedside manner. He diagnosed my 70 year old mother with stomach cancer after a CT scan and told her the news without her husband present in the room (he was waiting in the parking lot.) While in shock, he apparently thought it would be a good idea to also tell her about a good friend of his who was diagnosed with stomach cancer and battled for 4-5 years with treatment before he finally succumbed to the illness. Thankfully, she left Danbury Hospital and decided to go to Sloan Kettering for further cancer treatment. She met with a stomach cancer specialist along with a surgeon who were unwilling to put the "C" word on the mass in her stomach by just looking at a CT scan. Interesting that a cancer specialist was not willing to make the quick diagnosis, but an ER doctor was. After an endoscopy, ultrasound and biopsy it was… confirmed that the mass was not cancerous. It was a large ulcer. Our family suffered for weeks with the thought of our loved one having stomach cancer due to Dr. Porrello's quick and reckless diagnosis without the proper testing. I highly discourage anyone going to see him. I don't want to see anyone else have to go through what we just went through.
