Dr. Peter Benjamin Spencer, DO

I saw Dr. Spencer for weakness, exertional fatigue, imbalance, slow walking, rigidity. It took me 8 months to get seen. He did an EMG & wanted to wait nine months & "see". At six months I was desperate, progressing so much. He saw me again, repeated the EMG. He said that chasing my symptoms would be like chasing the wind. I asked if it could be Parkinson's. "Nope, I don't see it". Just because I don't have tremors, I guess. Well it is Parkinson's. I was diagnosed at Mayo clinic. I wasted 2 years of my life, quit my job waiting "to see".

Wait time to see him has always been brief. He does not seem rushed or in hurry in the exam room. He answers my questions so that I can understand him. I feel very comfortable with him.

I've never been treated so nice and prompt. Dr. Spencer spent ample time with me and explained in great detail every aspect of my issues. I wish all doctors were like him

He is a nice guy overall. Unfortunately, he is all too textbook for me. Seems uptight and uncomfortably proper...somewhat reminding me of Church Lady from Saturday Night Live. Not only because of my last comment below but more due to his demeanor. However, the more disturbing habit of his is the unbending focus on the computer screen. I finally stopped talking as if to wait for him to look my way and he said, in a very Church Lady kind of way, something like "oh, sorry, I have all this data to put into the system, keep talking". And my biggest problem of all was a comment he made that many other people will consider a positive thing. He told a short story about the uncertainty of an anonymous person's medical problem, and concluded his point by saying, "it should just be left in god's hands" (the lower case "g" was intentional). Dr. Spencer, The equipment you used on me, the car you drove to work and the field you have spent your life studying is all a result of the science. Instead… of leaving it in god's hands, some of your patients might prefer something that can make a difference.

we were 15 mins early and he orders us to go home i am in wheel chair and its very hard to get someone to drive me and get me ready but twice the dr. sent us home now i made appt with a better dr. he is very closed minded and impatent and very rude to the people that see him

We had a great experience with Dr. Spencer. However good luck getting the office staff to answer the phone or call you back after leaving a message.
