Dr. Peter Jay Stein, MD

Dr. Stein has been my doctor for over ten years. Dr. Stein is very smart, I knows his meds and how they affect his patients. I would highly recommend him.

I was sent to Dr. Stein for a mandatory second opinion. He seemed very cold and creepy not just to me but to my husband who came in the appointment with me. He asked me numerous questions and being a victim of abuse I was not gushing details to anyone on the first time I saw him. But one question he asked was if I thought I was smarter than most people. I thought about it and said yes. He asked me about that and I said I had recently dealt with a lot of people who were not catching on in Insurance and otherwise and I thought I was probably in the upper 50% in terms of smart rather than the lower. In his report he hung his hat on that one question and diagnosed me with a superiority complex! I’ve been in therapy for a while and I’ve got depression and PTSD but any therapist I’ve seen says if anything I have an inferiority complex. Dr. Stein was degrading and cold and wrong about his dx. He was unwilling to answer any question about what he meant by... Just a real jerk. … STAY AWAY FROM HIM.

After over 20 years of satisfactorily seeing this doctor for medication management, he "fired" me or dismissed me as a patient via e-mail. This was sent in response to an e-mail request I sent for a regular prescription renewal. He abruptly, in an e-mail, and arrogantly suggested that I find a new doctor most likely through a community health clinic since he was raising his prices and changing the nature of his practice (this, many years after he stopped accepting my insurance.) I stayed with him all these years because I appreciated his conservative,,"ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to dispensing of medications. I am appalled at his lack of professionalism in abruptly ending our long working relationship. I would have appreciated it if he had been proactive in contacting me about the changes in his practice rather than reveal it in response to a prescription renewal request. I will not be referring anyone to him from now on.

I just got that warm fuzzy feeling when we have our sessions. Makes me feel comfortable. Very insightfull, Intellegent. A good man I highly recomend him.
