Dr. Peter Jovonte Wong, MD

If it weren't for Dr. Wong and his quick thinking in the delivery room, my son would not be the brilliant 17-year old he is today. Dr. Wong's quick thinking made a problematic delivery as safe and pain-free as possible for both myself and my child. Dr. Wong is still my gynecologist, and as I am facing new and difficult challenges, because of his knowledge and caring bedside manner I know I am in good hands and am receiving excellent care.

I recently moved here a week ago and I am almost 36 weeks pregnant. I had to wait over an hour past my wait time... I have patience not a big deal. Walking in one of the scales had a jug of water on it and someone’s to go box... kinda odd but we used a different scale. I went to give a urine sample and the toilet bowl had old dried poop splattered all over it. Dr. Wong came in with a piece of paper asked what my due date was and if I was having a healthy pregnancy and if I had my records. I told him I had them on and CD and he said that wouldn’t work and asked if I could print them out. I told him the base could probably send them to him and he said your baby will be here by then. He felt my belly and I asked him if he thought she was breech as she was breech my last visit. He said he couldn’t tell. I asked him what was the plan if she was breech and he immediately said csection. I asked about version as an option and he said it doesn’t work most of the time with first babies. I said… well if I get a csection and decide to have another baby will I have to have another csection and he said probably. I lost it when he told me my fundal height was 32. I said well that is concerning that means I am three and a half weeks behind and he said that is why I need your records. I told him I had low Papp a protein and at risk for fetal growth restriction. I started crying and instead of offering some words of comfort or offering a tissue he asked anymore questions. I said no and he just passed me off to the scheduling coordinator. She was much more caring and explained that she was going to schedule an ultrasound ASAP. I will not be scheduling anymore appointments with Dr. Wong and I am keeping my fingers crossed that he will not be delivering this baby! Some things you can’t learn in medical school they come from within and good bedside manner is one of them.

4 years ago I saw Dr. Wong about severe cramping I've been having all of my teenage through adult life. I mentioned the stabbing feeling in my rectum, vomiting, cold sweats, chronic fatigue, pain through my body to my thighs. For a long time, I just thought maybe this was normal having to work my life around my cramps but I had enough because it was affecting my everyday life especially physically. To my dismay, I felt very patronized by Dr. Wong because he pretty much just dismissed the severity of my cramps saying "It's called a period" pretty much along those lines and that it was normal as if I was not aware of normal cramping during a period. After seeing that I was not satisfied with his answer he did a regular checkup and then an ultrasound, he found that I had a cyst but that they were insignificant(meaning to small to affect me). I asked if he could do more test or offer any other options to check further, he then offered a transvaginal scanning(what you see below), which I… did refuse. The reason was that I was not sexually active at the time and did not feel very comfortable with the idea and he knew that. So I was very disappointed that he could do nothing else for me... so I thought at the time. About 7-8 months later I decided to see another gyno, a female this time. I told her my same problems and practically pleaded with her. I was so desperate I even asked if she could just remove all my sex organs or at least the ones affecting me. She refused because of my age at the time and because I had not had a baby. She did agree to do another check-up on me and then an ultrasound. She found the same cyst with the same insignificance only this time she offered to perform a laparoscopy surgery on me, basically, she made 3 very small incisions one on each of my stomach and in my belly button so she could look inside with a camera to view my fallopian tubes and uterus. To my surprise, she saw that one of my fallopian tubes was attached to my uterus and a lot of scar tissue. She diagnosed me with Endometriosis, meaning the tissue that is usually released during a females cycle inside the uterus and exits the body was growing outside the uterus and can grow near the rectum, bladder, ovary, etc.. which was causing a lot of my excess pain and attaches to these areas, she also said I was at stage 3 or 4, 4 being the worst. Now the reason I was upset is that Dr. Wong never mentioned this option, or even brought up anything remotely close to this condition that I was going through even though I described the severity of the pain. I feel if he had taken me more serious he would have considered this option hopefully, and then maybe (I thought) he didnt feel like it was worth the risk or want to waste the time but that was not for him to decide, I should have been able to choose any way the risk, and even if I had let him do the scan he probably would have had to open me up anyway to remove the tissue scarring assuming he would have found anything with the transvaginal scanning. So to my conclusion ladies, especially you younger ones, do not let anyone especially a man(no offense guys) dictate to you about what your feeling with your body, no amount of knowledge they may hold will ever compare to your actual experience physically, mentally or emotionally. You have to fight. If I had not kept trying I would have kept suffering never knowing. Do not let people scare you or undermine what you're feeling or going through. I had trouble standing up and fighting for myself, and I know it can be a struggle constantly having someone turn you down but it's your body and no one else knows it better than you, so do not give up on yourself because what you feel matters.

Good bed side manner. Makes one feel very comfortable. No pain during examination and no after. Highly recommend.

Dr. Wong is the most arrogant, rude, inhumane, unsympathetic, cold, harsh and mean individual I have dealt with in the entire universe. One thing you can never get from an Ivy League school is class, integrity and compassion, and those are three traits, Dr.Wong was not born with. Being a Dr. is not always about medicine, it is about a Dr. that listens, a Dr. with great bedside manner, a Dr. that genuinely care about is patients compassionately. I hope another patient doesnâ??t go through what I encountered with Dr. Wong with my two pregnancies. I hope he will examine himself and start treating patients with better bedside manner. One of the BEST Doctors I've ever seen! Phenominal bedside manner, makes sure I am comfortable throughout all vists, educates me on anything I may need to know more about to make an informed decision, etc.

Well where do i begin to summarize, his bedside manner is not even a 1. He had a receptionist call me on a headset phone, after a vaginal ultrasound at the hospital, which wasn't preformed by him the ultrasound was done by a hospital technician. This happen twice first time to inform me that i was good to go (though still bleeding) and that I was due in April, the second time to inform me of what was a possible miscarriage and ended in a miscarriage. I already found that out at the Hospital! WOW. No bedside manner at all.

This practice was recommended to me by a friend and I have been seeing Dr. Wong for about the past 6 months while attempting to become pregnant. His diagnosis has been always accurate and I feel very comfortable during all procedures as he talks me through them. He always follows up after test results come in and it has been easy to book my appointments with him.

Don't see Dr. Wong, especially if you're experiencing pain. He is FAR from empathetic, to say the least! He likes to use the term, "Women just go through these things." Yes that's correct, Dr. Wong... This is why they seek the help of a physician! He refuses to address any of your concerns. He simply expects you to follow through with the "treatment" he chooses, no questions asked, regardless of risk factors. He was obviously not knowledgable on my condition, yet told me he "had a feeling" it was not the true diagnosis. Based on what, I do not know, as he would not elaborate. Don't let his toothy grin fool you... Choose another Ob/Gyn!

As soon as Dr. Wong walked into the room I was completely at ease and comfortable. I did not feel like he was rushing at all or had other things on his mind which sometimes happens with other doctors. He was very caring and answered all questions. I have 2 months left in my pregnancy and I am hoping Dr. Wong is on-call when I go into labor. Excellent doctor.
