Dr. Peter Shuford Yount, MD

Let me go ahead and save you time by telling u not to go here. I get there 10 mins late and had to wait 2 hours to be seen. Dr. Y walks in, reminds me that I've been waiting so long ultimately because I was late, looks at my face for 3 seconds, picks up some generic graph to explain to me the life cycle of a pimple (stuff a 3rd grader who googles skin would know), and writes me a script for antibiotic. He and his snotty nurse, tech whateve r did NOTHING to properly diagnose the underlying cause of my acne (no skin or puss samples to view under the microscope, no physical, nothing). I'm not a doctor but I was astounded to see how quickly he was willingly to dose me up on meds for TWO MONTHS with no real diagnosis. If I had a guess (I'm a research scientist, so I do believe I have knowledge to make a pretty good guess), he is an OLD school doc who USED to be at the forefront of his field (judging by his condescending attitude and the fact that he referred to himself in only third… person), but didn't keep up to date with the details and new discoveries in skin research, so he has NO clue as to properly diagnose his patients. In other words, he quit trying to truly be a good doctor and instead pretends he is and will live his last few years using his paycheck and his outdated MD to feel like an elite member of augusta society. If you don't cancel your appt after reading these reviews, don't say we didn't tell you so.

Saw Him once and regretted. Could not make another appt, couldn't switch to a later appt, nor could i switch doctors until doctor yount approved. we wait and waited for approval. got tired and went with a practice that was more accomidatiing. the appointment staff gave me a hard time. don't go back

This guy was probably the most condescending and rude dr I have ever dealt with. He spoke to me like a child. He constantly spoke over me. When he found out that I was retired in my early 50's, all he could keep saying is 'how nice that must be' like I wasnt worthy of that. Hardly took a look at what I was there for and told me to use some useless cream. This guy is a creepy as he looks!

Title says it all: Avoid this dermatologist. This is my opinion from my experience. Yount will ask the exact same humiliating questions (from the last appointment with him) while knowing full well the answer, just like a petulant child. Make no mistake, HE IS ALL ABOUT MONEY. If you have a question about anything other than what the appointment is for he says, "Call for another appointment" while he is already out the door. He has horrible bedside manners as well as people skills. He does not see the patient as anything else than a problem, not a person who is a member in the partnership (doctor-patient relation) in the health care treatment plan. It is all about him. He will not educate a patient in what is the illness so the patient is left clueless at every turn, but he will prescribe the most expensive drugs and not allow generics. You have a choice in which doctor does provide care. This man is not the one for me.

Dr. Yount has treated me for, or referred me for several skin cancers. I have found him to beboth proffessional and courteous.He has spent time doing a full body examination and answered my questions fully. He has always called back on any phone calls promptly.

I took my teen to this Dr. He was very rude and abrupt. I also had to have my grandson with me and he acted like that was a bad thing. My grandson was in no way acting out. He also dismissed me as if I was not even there. He interrupted me several times when I was trying to talk and then was very very rude to me. I promptly changed Drs. right away. I will not recommend this Dr. to anyone

Dr Yount is a wonderful doctor. I would suggest him or his wife, also a doctor in the practice, to anyone. On two occasions, Dr Yount called me at home to follow up after seeing him. Very impressive!
