Dr. Piet C Degroen, MD

I use to see Dr. deGroen at Mayo Clinic for 22 yrs?? He was a wonderful dr!!!! I miss having him too.

He said he was covering for another doctor because clinic was so far behind. Said he didn't know anything about me and later said "oh I got an email about you a few days ago and I ordered an MRI. A solitary liver tumor had been discovered on a CT scan, and biopsied. It was not known if this was a primary or metastatic tumor. I commented that I thought that metastatic liver tumors were multiple . He said "oh you have multiple tumors " stunned "I said where?" He said" your liver". I said I've been told I had cysts but only one tumor" he said "no, you have multiple liver tumors" My heart sank this was terrible information . He was looking at my CT scan when he said this. After a minute he said " oh I guess this are cysts". This indicates a careless or incompetent Doctor . There were other weird examples but that was the worst,

I have seen Dr. de Groen three times this year. He is an expert clinician. Each time I have been very pleased with his care. He is interested, attentive, thoughtful, respectful and polite; asks pertinent questions and listens to my answers; carefully reviews all clinical data; provides clear and detailed interpretation and information; treats me as an intelligent partner in my own care; is unhurried and generous with his time.

After reading the previous review I was a little worried. I was very surprise with my visit. We had a very interesting conversation and Piet De Groen was very straight forward and honest with me.

I am anxious around doctors and over the years have made some progress with this. However, seeing Dr. de Groen has set me back! He acted like he didn't believe anything I said and when I read his report it validated that and he completely twisted everything that was said. It is really awful to be sick and be treated this way!

Dr. De Groen and his team served patient poorly, made improper comments to patient, and lack of patience. Waiting time was about 1.5 hour.
