Dr. Phil Yuan-Chung Chen, DO

Dr. Chen has been our family doctor for 20 years.

Dr chen is probably one of the best doctors I've been too. He listens to what I have to say and lets me spend as much time talking to him as I want. He's helped me get better and back into work. Waits long though but worth it.

I think Dr. Chen is one of Henderson's finest. He is extreemly kind and understanding and most of all he is very competent. He makes sure that his check up is complete! I found him to be the best doctor I've ever had. Is have no problems putting my life in his hands.

Excellent professional service and care

I have read on here that people have made a few comments about dr. Phil Chen, that seem unwarranted and inaccurate. I have been his patient for almost a year and he is a true professional. He established a relationship with me right from the beginning. He did some physical tests on me to determine what was wrong with my back. I have an injured lower back and I am constantly in pain, yet he has helped identify and treat my injury and has explained everything I need to know about it. I used to be a professional mover and hurt my back - I used to see a dr. albert yeh since 2006 he did tests and had an mri done, did injections with a big machine, but did not explain exactly what was the injury. Dr. Chen is concerned about his patients and I am glad that I found him. it may take awhile to see him but it's well worth it, the level of care I recieve is exceptional. any thing he finds he treats it and doesn't overlook anything. I highly recommend Dr. Phil Chen if you want the best.

This doctor is a joke... He needs to get his license removed for prescribing so many KIDS oxycontin and roxycodine... My son has NO illness and no xrays or medical records and DR chen prescribes him xanax oxy and roxy... I have contacted the DEA and hopefully they look into it and take his license away.

Dr. Chen saw me, then the assistants at his clinic scheduled an MRI, as he told me on the first visit that he could not prescribe pain meds on the first visit and to go to my primary care doctor to get the prescription. I did what he told me to. Went to MRI center (although they said that there was a conflict in the diagnosis vs. the MRI) Then I saw Chen 2nd time and he gave me several incongruous excuses why he would not help me with my chronic pain. (He also said that an MRI wouldn't show anything and I WOULD have had to pay 20%, which is $600, if I had taken it as prescribed by the office.) On the 2nd visit, Dr. Chen again told me to ask for medications from my primary care physician. When I told him that my primary care would not fill my prescription again, he told me to FIND ANOTHER PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR. Since he asked me to ask my GP to prescribe medications, he must have felt that they were needed, yet HE didn't want to prescribe them. Then he told me that he would not prescribe… the equivalent to what I was taking currently and what he could prescribe would be a different medication and less. I said fine. I told him that I hated being dependent on pain meds and wanted to find a way to CURE my pain and get off the pills. I just didn't want to be in such horrible pain that I would end up dead. I went on and on about what exercises I do and asked if I could get X-rays of my hips since the doctors seem to focus on the wrong area all the time. I asked about any procedures that could help with the cause of my pain. (I have spent more than 50K trying to get out of pain in the past 11 years....) It seemed that Dr. Chen hoped that I would be discouraged by the lower dose prescription. Because after I agreed to his terms, he then told me that he didn't want to prescribe ANYTHING for months because I had used medicallly prescribed marijuana and it would take MONTHS for it to get out of my system. I told him I would stop the small amt. I used and take the test in a week. (He had told me that if I took the test that day, I would fail. I told him that I would stop the medical marijauna completely, and I wanted to take the test in a week.) He then said that it would be a waste of money for me to make another appt. When I said, it was getting late and my Mom was waiting and since he said I would fail that I wanted to wait until it was out of my system, he then said that I HAD to take it today. (Why did he first tell me that it would be a waste of money to get another appt.?) And since he KNEW I was on medical marijuana even BEFORE I ssaw him the FIRST TIME, why did he even have me come in, order an expensive MRI, etc.? This was a runaround. Finally, he said that I should go to a detox center. I asked him, "are you saying that I'm an addict and that I'm not in pain? That I lost my uterus when I wanted a child so I could GET on pain mgt.?" He told me that he wasn't saying I was an addict. I told him that I had tried to cut down my meds in the past, but the pain was so great that I couldn't even get out of bed to brush my teeth. I have been in chronic pain for 11 years, went through 4 surgeries, lost my uterus and ovaries. I have never abused pain medications. I have never done anything illegal, dr. shopped, or even used marijauna without a prescription. Now I will have to go to the emergency hospital and I am disabled and only receive 500 a month and am not yet on Medicaid. Why did Chen have me come into his office at all? Why did I spend 2 hours in there when I wrote on the form where it said "reason for visit" Need pain med refill. Why did he order an MRI, give me false hope that he would help me with my pain, tell me to get my meds from my primary care and then, when I told them he would not prescribe again, tell me to go to a REHAB? I feel as if I am a piece of trash being discarded to the wolves. The psychological impact of being treated like an addict when I cannot even sit through a movie and spend most of my life in bed even on meds is beyond my emotional pain threshold and physical pain gets WORSE when one is anxious and depressed. It's depressing enough being in constant horrible pain that is so bad that I turned down a trip to Paris, two trips to the Bahamas, when I was married and then my husband divorced me because I couldn't DO ANYTHING due to pain. Dr. Chen is one of six doctors who have turned me away--two didn't even bill me and told me to forget that I even came in. It's all too much. I need help and I don't know where to turn. What happened to the Hipocratic Oath? The pharmacy instructions on the medications I am on specifically say that I should NOT stop without a physician's help. I could have a stroke or worse. So what am I supposed to do? I am so tired and in more pain from driving all over and sitting in offices just to be turned away. I feel like no one cares. I feel as if I would be better off dead. And my poor 80 year old mother is getting sicker by the day from watching me suffer and having to drive me around. She feels humiliated every time I walk out of a doctor's office with tears in my eyes. So do I? Is there ANYONE out there that will help me?
