Dr. Philip Vincent Barbosa, MD

I had been seen by Dr Barbosa for about five years. He was treating my BPH and occasional prostatitis flare-ups. I started with Dr Barbosa, after he took over Dr Eyre's patients after the latter retired. I have never been fully comfortable with Dr Barbosa, and found his exams shallow. For example, he would not do even routine digit exams, unless I would specifically ask him. Nevertheless, I stayed with him out of inertia. Once the BPH became somewhat restrictive to my life style, Dr Barbosa proposed TURP. At that point, I became skeptical of Dr Barbosa's rush to TURP, so I transferred to a different urologist to reassess my situation. After a more thorough assessment by the new urologist, I received a prostate cancer diagnosis (on top of the BPH). Immediately after, I had a radical prostatectomy surgery, that showed that the tumor was already outside the prostate. Fortunately, my surgical margins were clear, albeit very narrow. I am incredibly grateful to my new urologist, as any delay… with the prostatectomy would have likely resulted in metastasis of the tumor, which would substantially reduce my life expectations, and require much more aggressive treatment. As such, I would not recommend Dr Barbosa.

Amazing experience from Dr. Barbosa!! Caring, knowledgeable, gentle and - what a great expert in his field! Performed lithotripsy on a rather large kidney stone a few days ago and took it out with no pain, no hassles, no side effects! Amazing performance - highly recommend! Thank you Dr.! :)

Dr Barbosa is excellent. Very kind and down to earth. He knows his field very well and provides terrific care. Would highly recommend him.
