Dr. Philip Steven Barie

Simple inguinal hernia repair. Came in early morning, was taken in late afternoon so that I had to be treated for hypoglycemia. Brusque, condescending manner. Woke up during procedure. Post-operative pain intense and wouldn't resolve. Told me to see an acupuncturist! Had numerous follow-ups where he denied any wrong doing even though I hadn't accused him of such. Had pain for 4.5 years after surgery, became addicted to opioids prescribed by pain clinic. Resolved addiction but still have pain and numbness. Consulted with other surgeons who believe that Dr. Barie left an entrapped nerve. No one wants to try and resolve this problem so I just live with it. What should have been a simple surgery and is the most common surgery performed became a nightmare due to Dr. Barie's cold, indifferent incompetence.

After a stroke Dr Barie operated on me to insert a feeding tube. The stitches were too tight causing a severe infection which pained me greatly until they could be removed three weeks later. Also he left the waste bag attached. Dr Barie should not be treating human beings, nor should he treat any other living being.

he was rude to patients, rude to his staff, and he was farting constantly while on rounds.

A simple hernia operation. For over nine months after the operation, Dr. Barie denied he cut my ilioinguinal nerve-- but the numbness on the surface of the skin in my pubic area did not go away. He finally admitted it after I read to him that his own operating room report stated that he could not find my nerve. Was I born without the nerve? Was he so incompetent that he could not find it? Or, did he cut it. This doctor was not forthcoming to reveal his mistake. Shame on him.

I cannot believe what I saw when I was in the hospital. This doctor was so awful to his surgical residents that I was concerned how he was going to treat me as a patient.
