Dr. Philip Cogan Casey, DO

I have been a patient of Doctor Casey's for quite a number of years at his practice on Lafayette Blvd in Fredericksburg. He's always had my best interest at heart and if I had a problem, he took me seriously and would either check it out himself or send me to a specialist. One time I had two attacks from gall bladder stones. He had an ultrasound scheduled for me right away. As soon as he read it, he called me and told me not to eat anything except fluids until I had my gall bladder removed. He had the appointment with the surgeon scheduled as soon as he could. My gall bladder was so bad, the surgeon had problems removing it. I think Dr. Casey saved my life. Anyway, I cannot say enough good things about him. I will miss his receptionist, Bonnie, too, now that he's moved to Dahlgren. She was always so pleasant and also on top of things. She would also take the time to answer any questions I had. Going to Dr. Casey was almost like visiting family. I am looking forward to… seeing him and his new staff in Dahlgren when I go in for my first appointment there. My ratings are based on my experience with the Fredericksburg office staff since I haven't had the pleasure of meeting his new staff yet.

I have been a patient for 18 years at the Fredericksburg office and will be following Dr. Casey to his new office in Dahlgren.

My father has called me every time he has had to visit this Dr. My father is a wonderful, sensitive caring man who will deal with a lot from people because he hates to complain. This Dr. is not only rude and uncaring. He intimidates and will not give my father the chance to tell him what his problems are. He has denied my father several times medical supplies that were recommended by his "specialized" Dr's. My father had to see several different Dr's over emergency triple heart bypass surgery/diabetes etc. These Dr's recommended diabetic testing strips among other things and Dr. Casey denied him stating that it was a waste of money and he was not going to authorize them because he did not need them. He also told my father that he needed to call the people back who were requesting them and tell them to stop calling him for authorization, that it was getting aggravating. My father has to take insulin shots and was directed to test before each meal. Dr. Casey said it was a waste of time… and that testing before each meal was not needed. Reminder, my father had JUST got out of the hospital after a week stay for emergency surgery. Dr. Casey made my father feel so bad & uncomfortable that he couldn't even ask him about other issues he was having for fear of reprisal in the form of intimidation. Everytime my father started to speak about his issues this Dr. would talk right over him so my father stopped speaking. Dr. Casey also said to my father, "Do you want this other Dr to treat you?, if you do I certainly don't have a problem with it". This doesn't sound bad in writing but it was his tone that made this a VERY intimidating statement. My father responded that he had several different Dr.s in the hospital and that he was told to follow up with his PC Dr. who is Dr. Casey. This man is rude, nasty and should just retire if he is going to treat people this way. I have talked to several people in thew area I live in and almost everyone knew of this Dr and had NOTHING good to say about him, which did not surprise me at all. I tried to let it go as I know that Dr.s are very busy these days and deal with difficult patients. My father is not one of those and is one of the most caring, passive, sweetest people you will ever meet in this world. When I heard of his latest visit I could no longer turn the cheek. Whatever this Dr.s issues are he needs to get help with them immediately. Maybe a class in proper etiquette, and dealing with people with compassion and understanding would be helpful. Needless to say, I will be searching for another Dr. for my father as he will never be seen by Dr. Philip C. Casey again. If this behavior does not change, maybe he should think about retiring. I have to say after all he has put my father through, this man will still remain in our prayers, as we hope whatever has made him this hateful in life will soften with time. God bless him and his current & future patients. They will need it.

I would tell my sisters to go to Dr. Casey and both of my adult children. He is kind, professional and takes good care of me each time I have to go to his office. Also the staff is nice and the wait is almost non existant...
