Dr. Philip Harry Cogen, MD

Simply stated this man has changed my life! Before I met him I was an anxious mess but with his help I am a lot better now. He is a very reasonable and smart man who is willing to go above and beyond to make a connection with his patients and truly help them.

Dr. Cogen is very insightful and I was able to bond with him. At first I was nervous because he was the first psychiatrist I have ever visited for my anxiety and depression. I go weekly to see him as my therapist and has helped so much in a few months, I feel like my life is almost back on track. I am just thankful people like him exist.

The psychiatrist by which all the others of my life(so far) would be judged and found wanting. Dr. Cogen worked with me all too briefly about 15 years ago. Since then I've failed to find a psychiatrist (there have been many) as smart, intuitive, kind and dedicated as he was (and I'm sure still is).

Dr Cogen is the best. He is extremely smart and has really good common sense. He is straightforward about treatment and will say we can try this, this may work, or this may not which is good because it sets realistic expectations. He seems to have a good understanding of the pros and cons of different meds unlike many other psychiatrists that give off the impression that they solely go off of what the drug companies told them. He has an eccentric personality so the conversation feels more like talking with a friend than talking with someone in a suit that may give you a weird look if you say something insane. Like many psychiatrists he doesn't take insurance which is the biggest issue with seeing him, but I can understand his perspective on that.
