Dr. Philip Sunghan Kim, MD

I had high hopes when I was referred to Dr. Kim. My first visit was good. I am not sure if they cloned Dr. Kim but all my appointments after the first visit were horrible. Each visit I had anxiety the night before and the day of the appointment I walked out of his office in tears. I was afraid to ask him any questions for fear he would yell at me. I understand that doctor's can have stressful days, but they should not take it out on their patients. It just makes our pain increase. His only plan for me was doing surgery for a Intrathecal Pain Pump. The only medication he would use was Morphine and Priatt. He would not listen to me when I told him I was itching from the Morphine. He looked at my husband and said she is just afraid of it. The Priatt make me have hallucinations and suffer from memory loss. I could not even remember my dogs name. Each visit he would increase both medications and I itched more and the symptoms of the Prialt got worse. He refused to do a… pre-authorazation for the Prialt, and my 2 insurances would pay for both medications. A vial of Priat cost $4000.00. Who can afford that type of medication and why would I pay out of pocket when the medication was dangerous. I have several specialist's but not one is rude . They listen and they actually have compassion. I was lucky to see another pain management doctor who told me that Dr. Kim's diagnosis was incorrect and scheduled me for removal of the Intrathecal Pain Pump. I was surprised that this doctor, no matter how busy he was, listened and was actually funny. I had no more days before my appointment with anxiety and I actually walked out of his office nor crying. The entire staff was superb. I learned that now a days you have to doctor shop. I am glad I did because I felt like I had won the lottery.

I spent over a year with Dr Kim he did absolutely nothing for my pain but kept giving me prescriptions to go on a diet. I understand I need to lose weight. But something needs to be done about my pain so I can lose weight and exercise .. I ended up in the hospital so many times for throwing my back out falling and throwing my neck out they could not help me in anyway because I had a pain management doctor, but he did nothing when I told him I was in the hospital but give me a prescription for diets I’ve left his doctors office crying more times than I can count. Because of the way you talk to me. When I asked for my medical file because I wanted to see another doctor the secretary gave it to me , In it it said I was a drug addict who is addicted to narcotics. Never once did I ask him for any kind of narcotic Nor has he ever prescribed me any. Just so you know I have two herniated disc’s in my neck with spinal stenosis sciatica a small dislocation Arthritis and other stuff going on… with my back I have four herniated disc in my neck with A nerve root pinched. Two bad knees That needs replacement surgery. And fibromyalgia. Now with that being said He is the worst doctor I have ever come across

Had blood patch done today and home same day few hours later with very little bit of pain in my back good Dr go see

Dr. Kim was dismissive of me from the beginning, despite my keeping careful track of my medications, physical therapies, and keeping him up to date with all of my care, he just gave me a narcotic (which I did not want to be on) and shooed me out of his office. He was rude, interrupting me frequently, which made me wonder if he was really listening to what I was saying. He was also consistently over an hour late for every visit. Another one of my specialists has had this problem but I still see her today because she is attentive and thorough in a way Dr. Kim never was. I was trying to approach my pain from all angles so I can be as active as possible; I don't want a doctor who's just going to shove narcotics at me and rush me out of the office as quickly as possible, I want a doctor who will listen to me and work with me to improve my health from all angles so I can live my best life possible, free of addiction or dangerous medication. Dr. Kim had to ask me questions at almost every… appointment that were some of the most basic facts of my case- I understand he's busy, but I have never worked with a physician who hasn't even known the most basic details of my case from visit to visit, regardless of how many other patients they were dealing with. I'm sure that like many other doctors, because I was on the younger side he decided I was drug seeking within the first ten minutes of my first visit. I really wish Dr. Kim would have taken more careful notes and paid more attention to my case. His priority seems to be office efficiency and salary, not a high quality of patient care.

No matter what location. Wait FOR 45 min on hold today! Waiting 7 days for my pain meds???? From a pain DOCTOR?!?! Still waiting for my “surgical scheduler” to call me after 3 phone calls?!!! They SUCK. Dr Kim is an excellent doctor unfortunately patients require more than just him to meet their care needs. I’ve been with Dr Kim for a LONG TIME and he still doesn’t have any decent office to support his patients. It’s God awful to be in pain and not able to receive a return call, a return call to your pharmacy, a call to schedule much needed injections! So I think it’s time to move on even if Dr Kim is a good doctor.

I met Dr.Kim many years ago,after being diagnosed with a spinal cord injury with neurogenic pain. His plan of treatment met my needs spot on, he was able to reduce my pain level and in turn I am grateful to be alive. Before seeing him I felt my life was not worth going on with, he changed that for me. He is very intelligent and in touch with modern medicine. I wouldn't trust anyone but him with my spine or my family's.

Very talented physician and explains exactly how he performs the procedure. Mr. Kim is a physician you can feel confident with.

Been seeing Dr. Kim for about 3 years(give or take a couple months.) I was referred by another pain management doctor for a nerve stimulator and just stayed with him. He does seem to get ahold of at times. I did a morphine pump trial and ended up getting hostipalized over the weekend because He couldn't be reached till Monday Morning. Overall though he does explained each prodecure before he does it. He could learn a little more bedside manner but he is a great doctor. IMO he doesn't just dish out pills or seem rushed when it comes to my appointments. He answers all my questions. He tells me the truth and is always honest when I asks him something! I love the ladies in his office at Brandywine and the other doctors in his practice

I had called this doctor to ask some questions about procedure that he wanted to do on me he hung up on me twice! As a result doctor fired. In addition he has the worst staff they are so stupid. This doctor is a pill mill if you want to get hooked on oxys he is the one for you.

Not a good doc!! Don't waste your time. Doesn't listen, doesn't care. Had procedures done and he socks and hurt me horribly!!
