Dr. Mataverde choose neurology and sleep medicine because he has always been fascinated with the brain—how it not only gifts our intelligence, but also influences who we are as individuals. He says that sleep itself is largely controlled by our brain and the field of sleep medicine offers many effective treatments that, as a care provider, are gratifying to see positively impact other's lives tangibly. This is why he comes to work each day: to positively affect the health and quality of life of others. Dr. Mataverde reveals that his wife has undoubtedly been the biggest influence in his life. “I have had the pleasure of knowing her for many years, including my most formative, and she has helped shape me into who I am,” he says. “She, and now our children, motivate me to do and be my best every day.” In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as exercising.With all my patients, I endeavor get to know them as a whole because, …aside for biological, so many other factors can influence sleep and ultimately our health. Dr. Mataverde has been a blessing. He diagnosed my sleep apnea but also found that there is more to my sleep disorder. He has been diligently working many avenues to help with my sleep disorder. Although I do not have narcolepsy, I am under the umbrella. Staying awake throughout the day is a challenge. I'm sorry he had to leave the area.

Having been to a number of sleep medicine clinics in the past, I found his manner not only professional and courteous, but actually concerned about finding the best solution for me instead of fulfilling some agenda of his own. I am an older patient and it seems to me that a lot of doctors have little time for older people. This was not the case at all. I feel comfortable trusting that he will do his best for me.

Dr. Mataverde is the most caring and kind hearted physician I have ever met. There needs to be more doctors like him. It is somewhat difficult to get into see him as a new patient but it is worth the wait

He is patient and takes the time to listen. He is very thorough in investigating problems and symtpoms . The Lake area is very lucky to have him. His nurses and office staff are also very good! His nurse is very patient and listens to any concerns you may have.
