Dr. Philip Christian Russell, MD

this person writes what he wants in his reports and does not listen to his patients, he invents things and exaggerates them in order to keep you in the hospital, this person is a danger to people who need help

Dr. Russell is on a power trip, he doesn't have his patients best interests at heart, he's dishonest and doesn't listen to family members - does whatever he wants. my son has been sick a very long time and I've never encountered a psychiatrist or anyone for that matter that's so out of touch with reality as this doctor.

After I was admitted as into the Inpatient Program at Butler Hospital in the psychiatric ward, Dr. Russell was rude, condescending, and refused to listen to what I wanted. After talking to me for 15 minutes, he formed an incorrect narrative of my history and refused to let me correct him. He interrupted me several times as I tried to tell my story and he told me that he wouldn't call my established therapist because it would take too much time. He imprisoned me involuntarily at the hospital for 3 nights even though I never caused him to think I was a risk to my own life. He refused to release me to my friends even though I am an adult, telling me he would release me to my father even though he has no understanding of my relationship with my family, and has met neither my friends nor my family. When I told him this was the wrong level of care for me, he smiled and said "you're sicker than you think you are". When I asked him why I was being treated in this way, he responded with "I'll… let you decide that for yourself". When I told him that I wanted a better description, he replied "I'm not going to give you any description, I'm doing what's best for you even if you don't know it". He didn't allow to go on walks or receive my schoolbooks to study for class. I spoke with several of the nurses on the floor, two of whom mentioned that Dr. Russell was known for being condescending and widely disliked by the staff and patients at Butler Hospital. Dr. Russell stole three days of my life from me and caused me undue trauma that I will have to live with for the rest of my life. I would not recommend this physician to anyone.
