Dr. Philip Simon Schwarzman, MD

I saw Dr. Schwarzman yesterday, and I would give him five stars. He was very attentive. He even went out of his way to get a device to look in my ears as there wasn’t one present nearby. He had a nice bedside manner and a good sense of humor. He was very professional.

I've been to St. Joseph's for an emergency case before. The staff was very courtious, and efficiant. We were even seen in an acceptable amount of time. However, with this last visit, which was for my mother; we waited nearly 2 hours to get a room (because of ambulance emergencies; acceptable) then another hour before seeing Dr. Schwarzman. He reviewed the paperwork from previous test ran on my mother, and began talking us through options and procedures. About 5 minutes into that explaination, he found out we didn't have insurance. To put it mildly, he couldn't get out of the room fast enough. He basically said, "Without insurance, no 'noraml doctor' will take you." and "You need to just go to county. They'll take care of you." His bedside manner did a complete 180. When he left, my mom and I were in tears. Rather he's a good doctor or not, I wouldn't know. Cause I didn't see a doctor in my opinion. I saw the back of a doctor retreating the room from an uninsured patient.
