Dr. Philip Ken Stephens, MD

Made inappropriate and slang related comments in regards to my groin pain. Was not helpful and very unprofessional. How does Kaiser allow this?

Highly unprofessional

Went in with severe swelling in my throat and began to cry from the pain because I had been waiting for FOUR HOURS. What did he do? Gave me an antidepressant and said I was depressed...went to a different doctor and found out I actually had a abscess in my throat that needed to be removed immediately.

Very unprofessional. I think it’s time he retired.. Will def. be contacting the medical board!

I was assigned to Dr. Stephens through Kaiser and went in to see him for an allergic reaction when I broke out in hives. He immediately diagnosed me with allergies and prescribed Zyrtec. When I tried explaining that I needed tests to see what I’m allergic to, he disregarded me and said I just wanted a prescription for pain meds and that he isn’t my primary care doctor (which he was). He then told me to see another doctor if I wanted them to prescribe pain meds. Not once did I request medication, I just wanted to know what was wrong with me. I’ve never met a doctor so rude, condescending and unprofessional. Stay away at all costs.

I recently met with Dr. Philip K Stephens (license number G59311) for the first time. This individual is the most degrading, condescending and humiliating doctor I have ever encountered. Never once did he listen to my concerns but instead took it upon himself to diagnose me with allergies within the first minute, never completing an exam. The fact that I was losing sensation on my head and the left side of my face was drooping, was of no concern to him. He stated that I needed to take psychiatric medication and stated that there was nothing wrong with me. He then insinuated that all I wanted was pain medication then stated that there is no reason to prescribe them. Why would I want pain medication, I WAS NOT IN PAIN!! In fact, it was the complete opposite, I lost feeling in areas of my body. I was terribly uncomfortable and very humiliated by Dr. Philip K Stephens, I couldn’t wait to get out of the exam room. Later that evening, I was transported from home by medical… personnel to a local (non- Kaiser Permanente) hospital to be treated for signs of a stroke. Dr. Philip K Stephens credential should be reevaluated rather than rely on his 30+ years of experience. How can someone in his position say such cruel things to a patient and most importantly, disregard their symptoms mentioned verbally, and visually noticeable? This doctor is the worst I have ever seen. Dr. Philip K Stephens is currently accepting new patients and I recommend you stay away. Choose a QUALIFIED physician who is there to assist you and not lead you to the grave.

I was assigned to this doctor I must say that Dr. Stephens bedside manner is horrible. I felt belittled he is a very sarcastic individual. At this moment I am searching for a new general physician THIS DOCTOR IS GOSH DARN AWFUL! if it were up to me he doesn't deserve any kind of star rating..

I recently met with Dr. Stephens for the first time. This appointment was the most embarrassing, degrading, condescending and humiliating doctor visit I have ever had. Within the first 10 seconds I was told "There is nothing wrong with you. You are not crippled. I do not see a cane, crutches or motorized chair. You are only here looking for a prescriber. It is all in your head, 75% of pain is in your brain and 25% is in your body. You need to be on psychiatric meds. Needless to say, I was so humiliated I got up and walked out of the exam room. How can someone that has never met me say such cruel things to a patient, especially when he has no idea what my issues are? This doctor is the worst I have ever seen.

Dr. Stephens has great personality. He was friendly, kind and helpful. He has a great sense of humor. I appreciate being under his care and following his instructions. I highly recommend you to see him.

i had an appt. with dr. K Stephens this morning. he was late to my appt. 50 mins, that is to long for someone to be kept waiting, especially if you have a scheduled appt. i had a list of concerns that i wanted to go over with him. he only allowed me to go over one of those concerns, when i was talking to him about a pain i have been having that is work related he told me to get another job and take pain medication everyday. he did not even consider an alternative option like a referral to a specialist, just so that we could rule out all other options, he just told me to get a diff. job and to pop pills everyday to "deal" with the pain. like this world dosent already have enough pill poping addicts.
