Dr. Philipp Andreas Sack, MD

Very difficult to set up an appointment due to lack of staff returning calls. Always put into voicemail and leave my number, but no one calls. A few times when I did receive a pick up of my call, they said “oh, I was just going to call you”. I’m not likely to believe that and just think that I was lucky to have person respond to the phone call. Considering that this is A psychiatric doctor, I would think that his staff would be required to respond to calls as quickly as possible. I am very frustrated, and waiting to hear a response from my fifth Voicemail message in the last three days.

I have been very patiently tolerating this office for 2 full years. His staff is terrible. They never have my blood work back from the lab I go in, which is vital to my care with medicine I take (lithium). They never answer their phone or return calls. Ever! We have to call them at least 10 times to fill each prescription (I’m on 5 which is overwhelming to deal with) and our pharmacy has to call/fax at least 5 times to fill each one as well. Eventually we have to call their emergency / after hours line to page Sack directly. He is always surprised to hear we have waited so long. The last time (yesterday) we had to call, he bluntly said the lack of communication was not his staff, rather me and is my issue. He accused me of missing 2 appointments (even though I called each time to reschedule, of which of course his staff never responded). He got frustrated when I told him about this again and told me to find another psychiatrist! I couldn’t believe it! Sack is a 5 minute man that cuts… you off when you speak. If you want short, very short appointments this is you man. His go-to prescriptions are seroquel and lithium and hands them out generously. He diagnosed my older son with Bipolar by speaking with him for a grand total of 30 seconds. Dr. Towry is in the same office. I would recommend him over Sack if you can put up with the same office staff. Good luck.

I was a patient of dr. Philip sack when he was in Baltimore. He helped me with a lot of my problems and I was very sorry to see him moved to California. He was an excellent psychiatrist
