Dr. Phillip Gustave Helding JR., DO

Brought my 91 year old mother to see Dr. Phillip Helding in Hinsdale, IL. She was very apprehensive about seeing a Psychiatrist for the first time in her life. We found Dr. Helding to be so very kind and reassuring. Not only is my mother elderly but English is not her native language so Dr. Helding was especially patient and respectful toward her. He is knowledgeable and professional and his treatment plan is already making a positive difference in her life. His sense of humor helps, too! The office staff goes above and beyond as far as customer service is concerned. I can't recommend this practice enough.

RUN as fast as you can away from Dr. Helding and his staff. They make mental issues worse with excessive invalidation and excessive gaslighting. I consider Dr. Heldings practice to be dangerous

Great experience. Treated my 5 year old son. I was apprehensive about medication. Saw him for play therapy and worked with the school. Glad to report my son is doing great.

I went and saw this doctor two years ago due to minor stress at work. I was expecting talk therapy and instead prescribed multiple medications with horrific side effects. I requested my records and saw nothing but scribbled notes from him and a “severe depression” diagnosis. I’ve never been depressed a day in my life. Do yourself a favor. Stay away from this guy he makes up nonsense to justify his drugs. It stays on your record forever too.

I have a brain injury from the psych meds he prescribed that damaged me over a number of years. He gave me an SSRI antidepressant and another antidepressant. Combined they cause serotonin Syndrome. Now I have permanent brain damage and resulting dementia. It’s diagnosed and proven. He a drug dealer. Oh, to boot he diagnosed me with depression. Though I tested in his office as zero depression. I went there for situational mild anxiety. Instead he gave me two antidepressants that permanently disabled me!

Good psychiatrist. Listen and talked with me for an hour and explained my diagnosis to me and how the medicine can help.

I am really confused by all these reviews. He was great and I am thankful to have finally decided to see a psychiatrist and get to the root of my problem and I am glad he was who I found. He was considerate and knowledgeable and asked all the appropriate questions and had genuine care for me. The staff is friendly and helpful.
