Dr. Phillip Paul Malvasi, DO

I was in prison in Lake Erie, Ohio.. MALVASI WAS ONE OF THE ATTENDING DOCTORS. I HAD SOME ORTHOPEDIC PROBLEMS WITH ONE OF MY KNEES WHILE IN THE TRUMBULL COUNTY JAIL BEFORE BEING SENT TO PRISON. MALVASI SENT ME TO DR. JURENOVICH WHILE IN TC-JAIL. SO HE WAS AWARE OF MY ISSUES IN PRISON. BEFORE HE BECOME ATTENDING PHYSICIAN AT LAKE ERIE PRISON I WAS ON PAIN MEDICINE IN PRISON. HE TERMINATED MY PAIN MEDICINE AND THE ENTIRE PRISON MEDICAL STAFF STARTED TREATING ME DIFFERENTLY. ALSO I DON'T THINK THE DOCTOR HAS ANY AFRICAN AMERICAN PATIENTS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIM. HOW HE IS STILL TRUMBULL COUNTY JAIL DOCTOR IS A CRIME IN ITSELF.

One word. Malpractice.

According to his office - this is an absolute. Think twice before making an appointment because there are doctors who have enough respect for their patients to actually provide them with a service before they expect to be paid.

Though he seems to listen he gives a minimal amount of information out. Frustrating that he doesn't elaborate more especially given a patients suffering. He seemed not to be able to fully grasp the degree of suffering and the many months it had been going on nor the toll it took. A little sad.

Patient of 12 years. Husband was very ill, treated him for everything BUT the problem. He ended up in the hospital and everything went downhill. Staff is rude and careless. Labs were ok???? New Dr. ran labs and they were all over the place, and he is still suffering the consequences of mediocre care. Ridiculous.

He is a great Dr. He spends time and talks with me and is a great listener and is concerned about my problem.

I have been a patient of dr Malvasia for about two years and because I was pleased with him I decided that when my son turned 16 I would have my son start seeing him as well and we had never had a problem until today... My 16 year old minor son was seen last week by dr Malvasia for a chest cold . When I called to make the appointment I stated to the staff my husband would be bringing my child and that he was low on his prescription that he must take everyday. They stated no problem we will let doctor know. However my son went back into the room while my husband stayed in the waiting room. After the exam was over they refused to write my sons prescription because my minor child told them he didn't think he was out of his medicine. So my husband called on Friday no return call. My husband then called today and spoke to the most disgusting disrespectful person. My husband explained we were just there and didn't want to come off as a nickel nose but we didn't have the money to keep paying… copays to the office. She said it wasn't her problem and began to scream to someone else in the office that my husband just didn't know how to take no for an answer.. So being the person I am I called the office with a very apologetic attitude and stated that I had asked for this to be written on the day of his appointment could the doctor call me she said that the doctor is very busy and didn't want to deal with me or my rude husband... So I stated fine if he is not going to call me back just make the appointment for my son he is out of his medicine and he can't be without it . She then stated I was hard of hearing because that she had asked me for my phone number 3 times. I have never been treat so poorly by anyone like this in my entire life. Five minutes after she hung up on me she then called back and said that dr Malvasia will allow no one to dictate how he runs his office and for us to find a new doctor.. All I can say is he already allows this woman to dictate his office. I owe no debt to his office we always pay on time and we always have our copays at the time of service So now not only will he not have my sons business but nor will he have mine. I have always recommended my friends and family to him because I felt safe in his care but the disrespect that was shown today was absolutely uncalled for . I don't know where he found this woman but he should send her back. I'm sure this is not the first time she has run someone off and I can probably guess it won't be the last.

Didn't see the physician - saw someone named "Mary" who didn't identify herself any further. Very limited exam. Technician or nurse who drew blood DIDN'T WEAR GLOVES. She wiped the skin at the site, then proceeded to touch all over the area with her dirty ungloved hands, before inserting the needle.

I have been a patient of Dr. Malvasi's for several years. Some of the receptionists have been a little abrasive but overall I have been very satisfied with my care. Dr. Malvasi has never made me feel rushed, goes over my file, always checks to be sure I'm up to date with flu shots, mammograms etc. Debbie has always been very pleasant and has called with blood work results the following day. I have a recurring problem and he has spent time explaining foods to eat, avoid, vitamins to take etc. Would highly recommend.

The doctor is very knowledgeable and has treated me with respect regarding my concerns. However, the staff is not helpful or courteous. If I call for the results of a test it takes them at least 1 day to call back even though they say they will call in a few hours. I have waited up to 3 days (with me calling several times) for a test to be scheduled. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone.
