Our daughter advanced far ahead of schedule and tried to start walking at 6 months old. As a result, she suffered an oblique, non-displaced fibular stress fracture. Non-weight bearing injury that ultimately healed on its own in a couple of weeks without physical restriction or casting per Vandy Ortho. Despite consulting with our pediatrician, who had seen our daughter earlier the same day, who told Dr. Thomas this was absolutely not the result of abuse or lack of supervision, he put his finger in my wife’s face and accused her of severe child abuse. He then called DCS, reported a severe abuse case and told them our daughter was not safe. He then threatened my wife, forcing her to go downtown Nashville to meet with DCS there rather than deal with it at his hospital at Williamson Medical Center. Fast forward, our daughter, who previously was exclusively breast feeding, has been in state custody for 90 days. Our lives have been turned upside down and worst of all, our 4 year old son is… absolutely devastated missing his baby sister.
