Dr. Pier Cristoforo Giulianotti, MD

I had surgery at UofI in 2012 by Dr. Guilianotti. Immediately after surgery I knew something was wrong and repeatedly questioned the doctor and his staff of 20 entering the room everyday. He never ONCE told me all my parathyroids were damaged during surgery. A Polish doctor came into the room after surgery and started telling me how he saw my parathyroids cut up on the operating table but suddenly stopped himself from talking further. For years I had no idea what has been happening to me after nearly 20 visits to the emergency room for low calcium. I am left with a life long disease thanks to this surgeon.

Dr. Giulianotti performed surgery on me in 2012. He never told me he cut my parathyroids. I ended up being hospitalized multiple times for hypocalcemic attacks. I now live with a life-long condition called hypoparathyroidism. I was never informed of anything leaving the University of Illinois. A medical student that was in the operating room admitted to me that my parathyroids were accidentally "nicked" during surgery.

Dr. Giulianotti performed the Whipple procedure on my 81 yr old mother for her pancreatic cancer. He did a wonderful job! I had the utmost confidence in his expertise as a surgeon. He is the absolute best as far as I'm concerned. Then when my Mom had a different medical problem, he did everything to help her avoid having a second surgery. It has been three months now, and my Mom is doing well. Her appetite has returned and she is having no problems with eating or digestion. If I ever need surgery, I would only trust the knowledge, talent and expertise of Dr. Giulianotti!
