Dr. Pierre Bernard Eugene, MD

I made the mistake of telling my Dr. Eugene that I had recently got off my medication for anxiety when I found out I was pregnant. From then on any concerns that I had, he treated me like I was just worrying for no reason and I must be depressed or unhappy with my pregnancy. This had been my third pregnancy and very long awaited, my husband and I could not have been happier about it. I finally just stopped telling him about any issues I was having because I knew he would just blow it off anyway. I would not recommend this doctor.

Finding an Ob-Gyn accepting news patients in the Watertown, NY area is a challenge, so I was excited to find Dr. Eugene's practice had openings. The office staff were the friendliest I've ever encountered, and the facilities are very clean and comfortable. The waiting room is especially nice, with a large aquarium and plenty of seating.Dr. Eugene ran about 30 minutes behind for both of my appointments, but I suspect that's because he doesn't hurry any of his patients. He takes his time and addresses all your concerns and never makes you feel rushed. I thought I'd found the "perfect" Ob-Gyn until the end of my last appointment. He was discussing the various infertility screening & treatment options available. When I respectfully declined them (stating that many were against my moral conscience), and that my husband and I planned on adopting instead of pursuing IVF, he told me: "We believe that having your own children is better than adopting." I was astounded. I asked him,… "Better? In what way?" He simply repeated that it was better. He then told me that on his first day of Ob-Gyn training, the instructor told the class, "A woman isn't really a woman until she gives birth." He admitted it sounded a little sexist, but that obviously didn't stop him from sharing it with me. Just when I thought I'd found the perfect Ob-Gyn doctor for me, he very casually said two of the rudest, most inconsiderate statements I'd ever heard from a doctor. If these sort of statements don't offend you, then Dr. Eugene is great. But be aware that despite his friendly, patient demeanor, he's capable of saying some surprisingly rude things.

This doctor is now working at Comprehensive Women's Health in Watertown, NY. He is the most friendly and caring doctor I have encountered. I am pregnant for the first time, and he addresses all of my problems and concerns with ease. I have a slight problem understanding his accent, but I will say that I trust him completely. Outstanding Experience with him, and wish that I could take him with me when I move.

At my first visit Dr. Eugene seemed caring and competent, enough so that I overlooked the rudeness of his staff. However, on subsequent visits for a chronic condition, I found his staff to be increasingly unpleasant and unprofessional (for example, answering medical questions without consulting the doctor & refusing to allow access to the doctor). Also, the doctor failed to record adequate and accurate information in my chart. I would not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Eugene was nice enough but he was very rushed, dismissed my concerns, and neglected to note important information in my file. His staff refused to relay information and questions to Dr. Eugene and failed to communicate important information to me (test results, for example). The wait time was very long during all my visits to his office. I would not recommend this doctor.
