Dr. Somasundar Sadasivan Ponnandai, MD

First - the wait time is acceptable because of Dr. Somasundar running around between surgeries and spending time with the patient before me - he takes his time. NEVER rushes. If I have to wait, that is fine. He spends quality time in assuring and partnering my needs and has saved my life TWO TIMES with his surgical skills on my very complicated body situation. I came to his care with many missing intestinal parts, support and having had other colorectal surgeons balk at attempting to help fix multiple hernias and collapsed intestines. My body fails his work due to the auto immune situation of my first illness of Crohn's disease. Dr. Somasundar has now, two times - repaired serious problems. NOT ONCE has he cut any intestine away. I came to him in IBD remission both times. He knows I have to keep every bit of intestine left to me. He has never disturbed my stoma (Ileostomy), nor has he changed the stoma position on my body. He knew it was not his first job to repair me, but… that it was AFTER surgery and the life he knows I want to live that came first in his skill and care of my body. Recovery is never easy from the surgeries I have had to under-go, but Dr. Somasundar has put me back into life the best way I needed. From myself and my family - we THANK HIM DEEPLY. Maybe one thing more ... I am having issues again, and he took me into his care immediately within these last couple months. After tests and consults - he said HIS WORK WAS HOLDING. He gave us the information we did need, and I do require a different approach to surgery. Dr. Somasundar did not take me for MY SAKE, not his bottom line. Integrity all the way - that's Dr. Somasundar. If I need him, he will be there for me.
