Dr. Prabhakar Tripuraneni, MD

Radiation oncologist, Prabhakar Tripuraneni, MD, is experienced in the areas of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT), stereotactic radio surgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), Gamma Knife, vascular brachytherapy, and skin electron beam radiation therapy. He also has special interest in prostate and bladder cancers, head and neck cancers, skin cancers, lymphoma, brain tumors, and benign tumors. Dr. Tripuraneni believes that there is no greater opportunity, responsibility, or obligation than being a physician. He believes that technical skill, scientific knowledge, and human understanding are the cornerstones of effective patient care. Dr. Tripuraneni also seeks to see the whole patient and is able to look beyond symptoms and disorders to take into account the emotional aspects of the patient's well-being. For patients who are fearful, he seeks to provide them with hope, relief, and reassurance. In addition to patient care, Dr. …Tripuraneni is currently conducting research on the safety and quality of radiation therapy, radiation oncology practice accreditation, and integrating health care enterprise radiation oncology (IHERO). As a pioneer in vascular brachytherapy, he has authored more than 40 publications on the topic in 5 years. He has also been the recipient of multiple awards including being named as one of "The Best Doctors in America" since 1996, awarded fellowship in the American College of Radiology and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and elected as Skaggs Clinical Scholar by the Scripps Research Institute. He was also elected ASTRO president and chair of the board of directors in 2006. He also served in the radiological devices panel of the Food and Drug Administration.
