Dr. Praful C Desai, MD

He commits people that should’ve committed! That’s just wrong! Do you receive money from this?!?!?!

Wanted to sign up as a new patient. Didn't get a return call after a week. Called the office and the girl in charge of new patients actually hung up on me. I brought this to the attention of the Administrative Staff and received no reply.

I have been seening doc for 5 years now, there is nothing I can say bad about this man, he is very understanding

Dr. Desai is kind, but his office staff is dreadful and uncaring. He dismissed my son without meds for missing an appointment even though he knows that my son often has difficulty getting out of the house

I personally tried calling the drs office for two straight days getting only the answering machine with no return call back. I had to wait months to get an appointment and when I arrived at the scheduled appointment I was rudely told I was not on the schedule. They would not even try to accommodate me but actually turned her (the office assistant at the window) back on me and started helping someone else. VERY unprofessional!!!! By the way, after having waited several months for the appointment when I arrived they refused to see me. Please if you are looking for help this is not the doctor to go to.

I have seen several different Psychiatrist through out the years, and I felt as if they just wanted to prescribe me medication and not listen to try to put together what could be the underlying issue. I have been seeing Dr. Desai for close to 10 yrs now, and he is always so concerned and seems to be right on with his diagnoses. Since seeing him, I have a life again. Wait times are not bad at all, as long as you don't show up an hour before your appointment. Sometimes if you need to reschedule, it can be difficult to get another appointment, but other than that, I would recomment him to anyone.

I've been seeing Dr. Desai for over two years since my second stay in a partial inpatient program which was the result of a misdiagnosis and mismanaged meds by my previous doctor.I find Dr. Desai to be concerned, straightforward and supportive. He never seems rushed and is very good at returning phone calls. My therapist, who has been in practice for 20 years, has told me that he is the only psychiatrist in the state that she has never heard a complaint about from a client.I'm hoping that by the time Dr. Desai retires that I will no longer be needed a psychiatrist.

I followed this doctor after Rockford Center. I was misdiagnosed and continued with him well into 2 years. All he did for me was push more and more medication, not addressing any problems. Finally went to another doc and doing MUCH better!
