Dr. Prarthana Beuria, MD

Bad diagnosis, refers to a specialist for every simple query, follow up extremely poor, the vitals are taken by the nurse, the queries are referred to a specialist, the follow up is negligible. I was asked to go to a urgent care center because I had recurring symptoms and the infection came back again. If I had to go to urgent care when my own doctor who recommended the 1st line of treatment cant prescribe, why would i have a doctor!!!

Not very friendly or thorough in her so-called examination as a primary care doctor. Weak handshake. Impersonal

Dr. Beuria was mostly occupied with her computer and didn't really seem to care too much about what I, her patient, had to say. The two concerns I had she brushed off the table before moving on to trying to sell me on a MRI and a colonoscopy - for no medical reason whatsoever. It felt like a sales event for medical services. I don't quite understand why she generally gets so good reviews, either I met her on a really bad day, or she has a twin sister.

I started off really liking Dr. Beuria so I'm actually really disappointed that I am even going as far to write this review. However my most recent experience with her was definitely unacceptable as a patient paying to be seen and just wanted to get my experience out there. I love all my doctors here in NYC and I have always bragged about how great they all are. I saw Dr. Beuria last summer when I needed to get checked out for asthma which wasn't very urgent. My regular doctor at Mt. Sinai wasn't available for a long time so I decided to just get an appointment with a doctor who could take me right away. She was very helpful during this appointment and I left very happy with a few prescriptions. The second time I saw her was similar - for something not too serious so I went in and saw her again and I was on my way. So when I got sick last month I didn't hesitate to go see her as I felt like I was coming down with something and wasn't getting better for over a week and was concerned.… She wasn't rude at first but I did feel like she didn't really feel the need to investigate what was going on and just kept telling me I had a virus. I took her word, did what she told me to do which was to relax, rest and just take it easy. The following Monday she called me with results from some of the lab work and I was positive for strep. So she put me on antibiotics and said I should be feeling better in a few days and if not then to come back if I wanted to. I had a standing appointment already so I just left it just in case for 3 days later which I did end up going to see her since I wasn't feeling much better. I was concerned at this point since I was going on my second week of being out from work and was on short term disability. Not to mention I had major travel plans coming up in a few weeks and just wanted to make sure I wasn't more sick than we initially thought. She did tell me my mono spot test came back negative despite me feeling like I had all the symptoms, said my throat looked better and to just continue with the antibiotics and to take it easy. Long story short I felt great a week later and thought I was fine. Sadly a week after that I slowly started to get all the same symptoms back and was really concerned. I emailed Dr. Beuria to see if she had any advice and she basically told me my symptoms were different and prescribed me a nasal spray. I appreciated that since it did help for my sinuses but the overall malaise and fatigue feeling were only getting worse. I finally went in to see her 3 days before I was supposed to be leaving for my honeymoon and she was incredibly dismissive and rude which left me with a horrible taste in my mouth. She basically told me I needed to work on my anxiety and go see a psychiatrist since i was so anxious about getting better. I'm not sure about her but I have never been sick for more than a week at the longest and so when I was approaching 3 weeks of not feeling well, it definitely was starting to raise some major concerns. She very rudely examined me with a lot of doubt and then did another throat culture despite the fact that she didn't think I had strep again, kept telling me my symptoms were all signs of panic or anxiety and rudely told me "you're free to go" and sent me home. If I had more energy that day I probably would've just left and made an appointment with a different doctor. But being in such a haze and feeling so sick, I didn't really know what to say to her. Everything I was telling her was apparently in my head so what more could I make her do to help me figure out why I had been sick for so long. Turns out my second strep culture came back positive and I did still have strep. She did prescribe me more antibiotics and said I was ok to travel. Well turns out I did travel and I probably shouldn't have. I went all the way to Hawaii only to get worse and have to come back early since I could barely get out of bed. My husband made me go straight to the doctor again - a different doctor this time and she did more blood work on me and diagnosed me with mono. I'm not holding a grudge against Dr. Beuria but it would've been nice if I had a Dr. take me more serious with all my symptoms 6 weeks ago. I definitely feel like I made myself worse and I am going on week 6 of being sick with a very slow recovery. Had I known I had mono earlier, I would've taken better care of myself and definitely postponed my trip. After wasting thousands of dollars on a honeymoon I couldn't even enjoy and making myself worse, I'm very disappointed in the way Dr. Beuria handled my situation. I don't think she's a terrible doctor but perhaps she doesn't like me or just was having a bad day - who knows. Either way I will never be going back to her ever again. Also another side note, I have never had a doctor that gives out prescriptions so easily and just sort of sends you on your way. I used to want someone like that since my last doctor had a very holistic approach and would never give me drugs even when I needed them which was also not great. However I will stick to my other doctors from now on who will help me investigate why I'm not feeling well and take me more seriously. I am not someone that comes running to the doctor for the common cold or flu. But I have never felt sick like the way I have in the past month so I was naturally very concerned. I learned the hard way that as a patient you have to go to someone that really wants to help you and not waste your time with someone that sees you as a nuisance.
