He received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He then completed his residency at the same institution and was granted the degree of Doctorate of Medicine, Internal Medicine. He then became a Diplomat of National Board, Internal Medicine (India), and a Member of The National Academy of Medical Sciences in 1996. He completed fellowships in Rheumatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Kaushik went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. He has been practicing Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in Baton Rouge, Louisiana since 2003.
