Dr. Pratik Mahendra Patel

If I could give Dr Patel higher marks I would. He has a knowledge and skill base that is un-matched. He also has a staff with the same. My kidney was damaged from a failed back surgery from an injury at work and Dr Patel found the issue when others couldn’t. He fought the Insurance company when they denied the claim for me. Then very smartly he repaired and saved my kidney when it was only working at 9%. Dr Patel and his staff are fantastic people that truly care about you and not the insurance company. He came highly recommended to me within the medical community. Other Doctors in his field talk highly of him. My daughter is a key player in heart health at PCH and he was recommended by the doctors there. You can trust this man and his staff with your life, I did.

This doctor made a comment that was hurtful, sexist, biased and completely unprofessional. It was outrageous. Run away quickly.

My father was recently operated on by Dr. Patel. It was a major prostate procedure with 2 months of pain, immobility, and complications leading up to the date of surgery. Just prior to the scheduled date, he was found to have a blood infection that would require additional time to rectify. Dr. Patel had an overseas vacation looming. Rather than leave my dad wait another 2-3 weeks for the surgery in miserable shape, Dr. Patel squeezed him in on a Saturday just prior to his travel date. Not something he had to do. Not something most doctors would do. This man did it. After 5 weeks of recovery, the surgery has yielded incredible results. Dr. Patel is a master of his craft. He extends life and improves quality of life. He turns misery and uncertainty into happiness, relief, and wellness. Anyone in need of Urologic help should only be so lucky to be on the receiving end of his care.

The most recent issue I have had with Pratik Patel and his office staff was a futile attempt to obtain medical records. I have tried for almost 5 weeks to these records by letter and follow up phone calls. I finally spoke to the medical records clerk and she kept asking me why I wanted the records sent to me and why I can not come in to pick them up, where do I live, "is it a problem to drive over". I told her it was none of her business on all her questions and finally asked for the office manager. The office manager never called me back and never responded to my letters. Previous to this incident; I went for a scheduled appointment and was told when I arrived "that the Doctor was in clinic and didn't the office call and cancel the appointment". No attempt was made to contact me at all. My particular medicine has to be coded a certain way or my insurance will reject the claim, I am constantly reminding the Dr. and the PA to code… it correctly and it is never correct. Every time I got for an appointment, there is a staff turn over and seems to be a new PA taking my input information. I will be leaving this practice and going to a different Urology practice that is less frenetic and more professional.

Dr. Patel did surgery on me for my blocked ureter. He was very professional and got the job done. I was very satisfied with his staff and their knowledge of my condition.

An exceptional doctor and excellent surgeon. I have had the best care after a kidney cancer diagnosis and removal.

Several of the staff that have important gatekeeping functions are rude with terrible people skills. They do not communicate and do not return phone calls and act as if they are doing you a favor to talk to you. If you have questions they will make you feel as though you shouldn't bother them with questions. Perhaps the office manager is a family member but he/she is doing a terrible job of training the staff. Docs don't care they just want to see as many patients as possible in the shortest amount of time. Expect long waiting room times.

I waited for more than an hour past my appointment time, only to learn that the doctor was not even there. He was on leave, and so I was given the option of a female nurse or a medical student to do my exam. Neither was acceptable, and so I left the office with the same problem I came there with and no solution. This dr is a CLOWN !

After my surgical procedure; I took a second and third opinions, both advised that surgery was not necessary in my case.Reviewing my visit reports; I was amazed by his thanks to my ex- primary Dr. thanking him for sending me to him for treatment!!.His staff is so incompetant and casual, you can hardly trust them.
